Goal: Get 2nd-bac RN, live/work in UK

Published

Hey everyone!

So I'm starting pre-requisites now. I'd like to get a 2nd bachelor's and then work as a nurse in the UK for several years at least.

My question is this-- what would be the most financially feasible means of doing this?

It seems to me like an Accelerated program is the best bet since it would save on tuition and get me out there sooner, but from what I understand, these are unacceptable in the UK.

I have a while to plan this; I've just been a bit confused in the research process since there's so much information out there! I just know my goal is to work in the United Kingdom and see if I want to live there, but the route I'd otherwise take (an Accelerated program) seems like it's not possible.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Unless you are able to get a work permit ie from the EU with passport you will currently find it very hard to get an employer willing to help you. Currently there are a lot of UK nurses struggling to find work and much is written in the UK forum on this, especially newly qualified nurses and some very experienced nurses are loosing their jobs due to downsizing.

Your training needs to meet UK requirements which is 3 years so generally you are right it will not be accepted if you do accelerated but NMC will make their own assessment but will cost you and they will not review until you pass English and ONP as I read it

Also be aware that the pay is not as good as the US and many find it hard to manage alone

Saying that I do wish you well
