GN Temp permit question

I graduated last week from and ADN program and I recently applied to get a temp permit in my state, but I am now considering a job in another state. I have not taken the NCLEX yet.

Can I apply to more than one state for my GN/ATT, or do I have to wait for my original application to be processed and then apply for endorsement?

What happens if you have applications in two states at once?

AliOop, you'll want to check the forms provided by your state BON carefully. And how you should approach this may hinge on the fact that, from Pearson's point of view (they administer NCLEX) you can only be a first-time test candidate once ... so I don't think you can apply more than once - it would probably foul things up royally. (and you'd have to pay the $200 each time - not sure why you'd want to do that)

I just looked at the state forms for PA, which I'm filling out now -- the fees are the same whether you apply for licensure/authorization to test in PA as a grad from an out-of-state school, or apply for licensure by endorsement if you already hold a license from another state. So they get ya either way ...

When do you plan to move to your new state? If it's soon after graduation, it might be best to start the whole process from the new state.

HTH :)

If you have already appied for licensure in one state, I would wait until you have taken the NCLEX for them and just endorse over............

Reasons: 1. You have already paid a fee and have the application already submitted. 2. The BON there is already familiar with your program. Your ATT will be avilable quicker. 3. Many hospitals out of state will be leary hiring a new grad without them having taken NCLEX, expecially since they are not familiar with your school. 4. Many facilities are no longer hiring a nurse who has not taken NCLEX, you will have many more offers once you take and pass the exam.

Good luck............ :)

Does anyone know how long it takes to get another states endorsement? If I am a hired as a graduate nurse in a different state than the state I'm initially taking the nclex, will I be able to get the endorsement within our 90 day limit of practicing as a graduate nurse?

Just wondering...
