Glendale college adn fall 2017

Published

Hi guys ! Haven't seen any threats started for Glendale community college fall 2017. If anyone has applied, let's keep each other updated !!

Anabanana007, Yes COC always has tones of applicants and I heard the same that this semester standards were a little higher than usual. I knew several students that were alternates that got in but I also knew a few that didn't get in so lets just keep our fingers crossed that lots of people reject their spot in it opens up for you:) So many people just apply all over to be more competitive but everyone usually has a first choice and that is where spaces open up, people start rejecting spots left and right once they get in where they really want. :)

Once you go tomorrow to the orientation hopefully they can let you know where you stand as an alternate and all of that:) Cause I do know the alternates are numbered so maybe tomorrow they will tell you what your number is so at least you know where you stand on the list:)

Demetria30 aww thanks! You are super sweet and supportive! Ahh see this is why I love the nursing profession, nurses are so supportive and are such caring compassionate ppl! You are definitely in the right profession! Yeah I hope we get into Glendale! It would be so nice if they sent the emails out today or tomorrow! Ahh! Lol.

Oh another random question. Do you know about the accreditation for national level, like CCEN or ACEN. Which one is "better" (more highly recognized)? And what pre-accredited ACEN vs ACEN means as far as being recognized for NCLEX or if it is even related to NCLEX eligibility? Also are you going to do BSN concurrent or an RN-BSN? I've been so confused as to what all these accreditations mean and how they relate to licensing and eligibility to practice as an RN. Tried looking it up but maybe you know more or know of some resources? :-)

Anabanana007, Thank you for your kind words, wouldn't it be great if we both got into Glendale:) As far as the accreditation, I wanna say they are equally important it is just CCEN is if your taking the program at a University level and ACEN is if your taking the program at a Junior/Community college. A good thing to remember is if the school offers financial aid there most likely legit because the government doesn't wanna fund frauds. I would love to do the RN-BSN collaborate program but I found out that they only take like 10 students a year so it is very competitive :( If that doesn't work out for me I am not going to let that hinder me I will just get my BSN after I complete the RN program. I have taken all of the classes required for the concurrent program so I am hoping that once i get to that point that will count for something and if i do have to wait till after I am hoping I wont have too many classes to take to get my BSN. All of that is something that I try not to worry about at this point, my main focus these days is getting into a RN program, its like I am so close yet so far!!!

hcjbfs, wouldn't that be nice it isn't my first choice but to be honest I don't event think I have a first choice anymore I just want to get into a program...The more I think about it the more I have been leaning towards Glendale because they have a evening/weekend schedule which would work great for me since I am commuting, traffic would be better with those hours:) At first it was a school that I just applied to increasing my chances but now to be honest I have been hoping for a spot :)

I also applied to gcc but I haven't received any email:/ I'm worried they might have the wrong info

steph17, I only got the email after I contacted the nursing department because someone on here posted that they got an update. Good thing I did contact them because I was supposed to receive an email but it never got to me so the lady I spoke with resent it while I was on the phone and told me to follow those steps and it shouldn't be a problem the next time they send out emails but Idk. I think you should call to see because you should of got something telling you if you meet the requirments and about the teas in all of that.

what are your guys' cumulative /science gpa and teas scores?

Demetria30 I absolutely agree! That would be so wonderful if we both got in! Also, thank you so much for clearing up the accreditation info! Sometimes all this nursing info can get overwhelming and a little confusing, so I really appreciate your help and insight on that. As far as Glendale are they ACEN accredited? I was trying to look online to determine if they had it or not. I know COC is pre-ACEN status, and Moorpark is fully ACEN accredited. I am hoping Glendale is ACEN accredited. I saw that they are BRN accredited, but unsure if they are ACEN accredited.

Hey steph17, it is best to email the department , I tried calling multiple times and they never picked up. They are very fast with email though. I think I was invited to take TEAS around early/mid April. I know the TEAS 6 was being offered on April 26th or you had to turn in TEAS 6 scores by April 26th. Definitely email them just incase or call and leave a message ( or both like I did). I was weirded out that I hadn't received confirmation for sending in my scores, but they sent a quick reply saying they received it. When in doubt I'd contact them. Very nice staff at least with what interaction I've had with them.

Best of luck!

Hi everyone! Just took the TEAS today and scored an 82%. This was my first time taking it and for some reason I thought I did way better than that....Not really sure what to expect, but I'm hoping for the best! I heard they will let us know mid-May, is that correct?? Does anyone have any idea how this works? I know it is a lottery system, but what factors into the decision? Any info is greatly appreciated! Best of luck to you all!!! :)

I thought the deadline to submit the teas was April 26

Hi there! No, they sent an email a few weeks ago saying that one more day opened up to take it, so a few people were there to take it yesterday.
