Giving Two Weeks on Weekend Shift?

Hello, everyone! I currently work in an Assisted Living Facility The DON nor the administrator are there on the weekends, which is the only time I go in.

I got offered a new position, but it wasn't set in stone until today. I went into orientation and signed everything and I start orientating on the floor on Tuesday!

So I'm curious as to how I should give my notice if no one is there? Slip it under their doors? Or go in during the week? I obviously need to give it ASAP, but I feel like just slipping it under their door is unprofessional.

Unfortunately, what you needed to do was give at least a two week notice, this is considered standard and professional in almost all areas. PLEASE don't stick a note under the door, that's even worse than unprofessional. You need to get into contact with someone from leadership and preferably apologize for the late notice. You don't ever want to burn bridges with a former employer. You never know when you might need their help or at least a positive reference someday.

You need to do it FAST. Be the professional. Go in on Monday with copies of your resignation letter (keep it short, sweet & simple - no negative comments, just 'thank you').

If you have to leave the letter, make sure you make phone contact with someone. Also, email or text so that you have a time date stamp somewhere. A personnel/HR director is a contact also, altho professional protocol/courtesy is to notify your direct dept head first.

Don't forget to check if you've earned any vacation/PTO, need any health records or education documentation.

Good luck.

I definitely planned on giving two weeks and not anything shorter than that, due to not wanting to burn bridges because I do like everyone there. Thanks so much for the help though!
