Giving notice when changing jobs

I currently work in a retail setting. I may be changing jobs in the near future. How much notice is appropriate? 2 weeks? 4 weeks? I'm leaving on good terms, and want to stay on good terms? Thanks!

I recently changed positions and my contract was for two months which I did not disagree with. As a provider we are important to the success of the system we are with and not easily replaced. Plus once accepting a position it takes at least a couple of months to get credentialed. My opinion is if we want to be treated professionally we should act so as well.

We require 90 business days. Less than that is a contract violation and would cost 1.5x salary in fines.

I was curious about this and looked up my job's rules for notice. 2 weeks notice is required for all positions.

My employer specifies 3 month notice for all providers. My experience is that most credentialing processes take about that long.
