GI to PACU

I have been a GI nurse for a couple years now and have thinking about transitioning into PACU. I do not have any other nursing experience besides this, and was wondering if anyone had any insight on how to make this transition.

Thank you!

Get some ICU experience. Your GI experience with conscious sedation is only minimally useful if you plan to work in an acute care PACU. The Endoscopy Department in my hospital sends their patients to our PACU for recovery if general anesthesia is used during the procedure.

Outpatient only or freestanding clinics may be a better fit as they pre-screen their patients to minimize any possibility of hospitalization/complications.
