2013 GHSU CNL applicants

Published

Hi! Anyone else out there apply for the 2013 Georgia Health Science University's CNL MSN program? I just submitted my application for the early decision Nov 1 deadline. Let's chat!

I just received my letter for Athens yesterday!

Congrats csu and dea!!! We will be classmates!

Does anyone know if the commute from the Atlanta area to Athens is reasonable? My sister and I will be moving to Georgia later this summer and we are trying to find an area that is in between Decatur and Athens. (My sister will be going to school in Decatur.) How often will we actually be on campus? We were looking in the Duluth or Norcross areas.

dea- the first semester you should be on campus Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and I believe we have some online stuff the other two days. Decatur is smack in the middle of Atlanta (inside the perimeter) so she's pretty much going to have traffic no matter what. I'd day living somewhere near Buford/Suwanee and you will have about an hour drive to the Athens campus but it will be pretty easy going. No traffic that direction and highway pretty much all the way (I would take 85- occasional accident back up but lots of ways around, not 316- a million lights and traffic backs up easily). Good luck.

I would not live in Duluth or Norcross. There is no straight shot to Athens. Hwy 316 is horrible traffic and from i-85, it's gonna be another 45 minutes. I live in Jefferson and it will be about 40 minute drive. It takes me 45 minutes to get to Norcross/ Duluth. I would be the halfway point for you.

Winder or east lawrenceville may work well. Of 316, but east of most of the bad traffic.

My opinion on a halfway point would be either Monroe, Loganville, or Snellville. Hwy 78 takes you straight to Athens (east bound) and Decatur (west bound).

Thank you so much, all of you have been extremely helpful! Based on the locations you have suggested I'm guessing I will have about a 40 minute commute. Do any of you know about Dacula?

Is there anyone moving to athens or is everyone commuting?

Dacula is right near 316. We are not kidding when we say the traffic on 316 is awful!! srhewatt had a good suggestion- 78 is a pretty good commute route into Athens...I have no idea about going to Decatur that way though so I won't comment on that part. =o)

I will actually be at the Augusta campus, but I own a 2 bedroom townhome in Athens if anyone is interested! ha ha. And I have friend finishing UGA pharmacy school, moving to Augusta if anyone wants another professional student roomie.

dea- where are you moving from??

Dacula is at the beginning of traffic hell on 316. Going towards Athens you should be ok, but towards Atlanta is a nightmare at that point. 78 is a good location to athens but don't know how to get to Decatur from there. Yes from most of these suggestions, about 40 minutes. Any further away from Athens, traffic will nearly double your time.

@MrsJTL-I'm moving from Arizona, I live about 45 minutes north of Mexico.
