Hi there, for those of you who are interested in GGC’s nursing program, I can share more information with you if you’d like. I graduated from the program in 2018. The program is challenging and competitive to get into since they only admit ~32 students each Fall/Spring. Definitely do well on your TEAS test, which I believe still counts ~40% of your overall application (at least when I was applying before it did). Make sure your volunteer work shows a history of volunteering, not just doing it last minute to qualify. They want to see someone who is committed to service. And ensure that your personal statement is specific and tells a story about who you are and why you chose nursing. Lastly, make sure your science GPA is top notch. All As and Bs, may get lucky even if you have 1 C. I got in with 1 C in Chem, but I retook it and got an A (so it averaged out to a B. I know another guy who made Bs in all his sciences and got in. It just depends. Not everyone who makes straight As will get in. Best of luck to you all!

I found out I got a 77.3% on the TEAS, but I'm not sure if it will be enough to get me on the program. I'm retaking it again tomorrow. Any advice?

Yes, study using ATI’s resources like their TEAS practice book that has questions. You can also browse the ATI website to look for test prep products. I would not recommend using just any TEAS study guide that is not written by ATI. ATI is the actual publisher that writes the TEAS test, so their products and practice questions would be similar to what you would encounter on the actual TEAS test. Understand and read the rationales for questions you get wrong. Get into this habit because the nursing program (and many other nursing programs) use ATI testing throughout nursing school. You will see this software again when you take standardized tests for your specialty nursing classes.

Hypothetically, if I were to submit the score I have for the TEAS along with my other stats, would I still have a chance of getting into GGC's nursing program? (I still need to add other volunteer hours as well)

A 77% is decent on the TEAS. When I applied back in 2016, I did not study and I made a 74%. Had I studied more and put in effort, I probably could have scored in the low 80s at least like my peers. Thankfully, I got in with a 74%. At the time they were telling students to aim for the mid 70s and 80s. I'm not sure if a score in the mid-high 70s today would still be as competitive, but it doesn't hurt to re-take it if you feel that would give you a better chance and give you peace of mind. I know some people who would study and still make in the 60s on the TEAS, still not qualifying. But I guess every person is just different.
They try to look at each applicant holistically too, so make your personal statement very good and show that your volunteer work is not just a last minute attempt to get into nursing school and qualify. If you have any other science classes left, aim for As and Bs. Letter of recommendations or references, get them from professors who know you really well and your work ethic. I had my CHEM 1211K/1212K professor write mine.

Typically they send you a hard copy letter in the mail or may even email you a copy. It just depends. Good luck!

Hello! I know the GGC 2022 Nursing Program doesn't open until November, but I was wondering if anyone else was planning to apply this upcoming Winter! Here are my stats so far:
GPA: 4.0
Science GPA: 4.0 (So far, this is subject to change, but I'm hoping it would stay)
Volunteer Hours: 51 Hours
TEAS: Planning to take it during the Winter!
