Getting through Pre-Requisites @ Schoolcraft.....

Published

Hello Everyone. Just wanted to hear from anyone going to Schoolcraft. I will be taking my TEAS after 2009 Fall Semester. This spring I'm taking Algebra and Bio in Summer. AP & Chem in Fall. I'm currently unemployed so taking as much as possible. I've already taken some other classes. I've been looking on this website for a while, and it's so helpful. I know if I get on the "list" next January 2010, I will most likely get into the program for 2012. Any chances of getting into 2011? I'm sure I won't make it for 2010, but a year earlier sure would be nice. Just wanted to know if anyone else did this. And did anyone take AP 236, instead of the 237 & 238? It my age I don't think I will be going for my BA....but who knows. Thanks all!

Hi,

I applied at schoolcraft last spring and received my acceptance letter into the 2010 class and was moved up. I start this fall. I always assumed I would move up because they are accepting 120 instead of 90 starting this fall. You just never know how many people have gone elsewhere or just quit the program so they can move others up.

I did take AP 236 too.

Best of luck to you!

Hi SREED1966 ...

Wow, we seem to be on the same path. I am starting BIO 101 in two weeks, Algebra in the Summer and in the Fall AP 237 and Chemistry. Hoping to take the TEAS in November. Its my "Return to Learn" after an 18 year hiatus from college. I still have to juggle my fulltime job for as long as I have it (automotive), while completing pre-requisites. Good luck to you and I'll see you there!

Hi! You are on the same track that I am...finally maybe we can help each other!! I am taking Chem 051 in fall 09, so classes start aug 26. I am registered to take the TEAS test in Nov 09. But I am a bit disappointed to hear it will probably by 2012 before I can actually start clinicals. I am unemployed right now so trying to get this done and over with.

Let me know how things are going and if you have any questions, not that i will have the answers, but ya never know!!

thanks!!

I'm taking Chem 51 in the Fall as well, along with Algebra 113 and ENG 101. Who are you taking? I'm scheduled with Dickson at 10am. Have you already taken A&P? I'm going to schedule that for the winter and hopefully take the TEAS early spring. From what I've heard you will probably be able to start in 2011. A lot of people go different routes and drop off the list. I'm unemployed as well. I guess I'll try and get a job once I'm on the list only to quit once I start the nursing program. Who knows what will happen....So which classes have you taken so far? Nice to see someone else in the same situation...

Hi

I believe I am signed up with Jones, classes are on Wed and Thursday evening and lab on Monday. I have taken all of my pre-reqs, Chem is my last one. I had to take the A&P review course over the summer since it had been 5 years since I took A&P I and II. Wasn't too bad, i passed. It seems like I have been going to school forever and still haven't gotten anywhere...hopefully one day i will get to the finish line!!! Keep me posted on your journey and I will do the same. Nice to be able to talk to someone else who knows my frustrations and wanting this process to just speed up!!! thanks:coollook:

Hey gstahl4 ... we will be in the same Chemistry class in the fall. I also have AP 237 all day on Friday and I am registered to take the TEAS in November. I took BIO 101 in the spring and Algebra this summer.

I got the scoop on the numbers already enrolled in the ADN program about a month ago from a memeber of the adminstration. The Fall class of 2010 is full and there were already 74 in the class of 2011. I will be applying to the ADN program in December, but I am also gonna apply to some BSN programs (WSU, EMU, Madonna -no wait I hear- and UofM) and see what happens. I am still employed fulltime (well reduced to 32 hours) in a unrelated field. I really don't want to wait until the Fall of 2012 to start the nursing program as I will only have 4 more pre-requisites to take for the ADN program while waiting, but I will have 4 or 5 additional classes (all BIO and CHEM) to take as prerequisites for a BSN.

We shall see. Best of luck and I'll see you in Chem on August 26th!
