Getting permanent restrictions lifted

Nurses Recovery

Published

I was wanted to see if anyone has had a consent agreement with the Ohio Board of Nursing, or any state board, that had permanent restrictions placed on their license and was able to get them off eventually.

I have a consent agreement with the board. I jumped through all their hoops, did the monitoring, testing etc. I got all of my temporary restrictions lifted and now just have the permanent practice ones in place. These restrictions limited the positions I can take such as homecare and management positions. I also cannot call in prescriptions. When I initially agreed to the consent agreement the lawyer for the board told me that even permanent restrictions can be lifted after a period of time. I recently asked my case worker about it and she said they cannot be lifted.

So my question is, has anyone ever been successful at getting permanent restrictions off of your license? How did you do it?

Thanks!!

My monitor told me that for any permanent restriction IT CANNOT BE REMOVED... But, say you want to work in home health... If you get the employer to write a letter of intent and you've given the employer all the info on your discipline, the board can approve it. But if you switch jobs, you have to go through the whole process each time. Hope this helps!
