  1. I was wanted to see if anyone has had a consent agreement with the Ohio Board of Nursing, or any state board, that had permanent restrictions placed on their license and was able to get them off eventually. I have a consent agreement with the board. I jumped through all their hoops, did the monitoring, testing etc. I got all of my temporary restrictions lifted and now just have the permanent practice ones in place. These restrictions limited the positions I can take such as homecare and management positions. I also cannot call in prescriptions. When I initially agreed to the consent agreement the lawyer for the board told me that even permanent restrictions can be lifted after a period of time. I recently asked my case worker about it and she said they cannot be lifted. So my question is, has anyone ever been successful at getting permanent restrictions off of your license? How did you do it? Thanks!!
  2. I realize this post is a little older but you are facing something that I do have some experience with. I also was charged with a felony and got intervention in lieu of conviction. I had a two year sentence of probation and was released early after one year. Of course the board found out about the charges and I had my license suspended. I did not get a lawyer, I should have but don't know how much that would have changed things. My license was suspended for 18 months and I had a long list of things I had to do to show I was working on my recovery. At the end of the 18 months I applied to get the suspension lifted and was granted my license. It is a 3 year probationary term. I had a 6 month narc resriction and some permanent restrictions. Of course nothing counts towards your 3 year term until you are in a position that requires your license so it took me over a year to find someone to give me a chance. I have been working again as a RN for 2 years and am meeting with the board in a couple weeks to try to get off the probationary term early. Scared to death about that meeting. When you get the papers it all sounds so terrible and like a mountain that you won't be able to climb but it can be done if it's something that you want. I had many people tell me that I would never be able to get through their requirements. I almost gave up several times and wanted to tell them to just keep my license but I didn't and am thankful that I didn't. I had to work minimum wage jobs and was even on food stamps for awhile to put food on the table for my kids, since it was even hard to find minimum wage jobs because everybody knows there is something going on when an RN is applying for a minimum wage job. Just do whatever they say you need to do. It sucks at times and feels like your life isn't your own at times but this too shall pass and things will all work out if you just keep doing the next right thing.
  3. I am currently at the end of my second year of a 3 year consent agreement with the Ohio Board of Nursing. I have been told that I can apply for early release but that I have to come to the board in person for an interview. This is terrifying to me as I have never done this before. Does anybody have any experience with doing an interview with the Board? What will happen? What will they want to know? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for posting. I did eventually find employment but not at the job that I originally posted about. When that one found out that I had restrictions I could tell they were no longer interested. I finished the interview but of course never heard back from them. I work now at a small office that I love and am so thankful that they gave me a chance. Getting in as a CNA is great and I have heard of others getting employed as RN's by starting as CNA's. Good luck!
  5. I will be taking it too!
  6. I am an Ohio RN and am going on my first interview in about 3 years this Friday at a dialysis center. Almost 3 years ago I was charged with Deception to Obtain Dangerous Drugs. I received Intervention in Lieu of Conviction, which I complied with all terms and was released after one year on the program. After being released the charges were dismissed, however it still shows on my criminal record that I was charged with this. My RN license was suspended as a result of this charge and I entered into a consent agreement with the BON. I complied with all their requirements and was given my license back this past May. My license is on probation with a 6 month narc restriction and some other restrictions such as: I can't call in prescriptions, work as a manager/supervisor, work in home health, for an agency, or for Hospice. On the application I had put that my license had been suspended and now was on probation. I also told them that I had completed in patient rehab, IOP and aftercare. They called me for an interview, which I was super excited about, since I have serious doubts of anyone hiring me. If they looked at all of the application then they know that I have a license in probation status, however they do not know about the criminal charges that I faced. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar situation? Will the charges hurt me since they were dismissed? Should I tell them about it in the interview or wait for them to run my background check?
