Getting into Nursing With a BA In Biology

Published

I have a bachelors degree in Biology and i am looking into getting into nursing. What kind of nursing program should I look for? I have most of the pre reqs except for nutrition. which i plan on taking this spring. I'm located in Sacramento.

What kind would you like? There are programs that are short and intense, meant for second bachelors offered at many private universities. They are pricier though but you get through school faster. Or you can do traditional route and do your prereqs and apply for state schools or community colleges. If you want BSN, go for state schools and private universities. If you just want RN, do community colleges or you can bridge after to get a BSN. How are your grades for prereqs and GPA? If they are good, you'll have no problem getting in, even with high amount of competition.

I am second bachelors too btw and also located in Sacramento! I spent a year and half to do all my prereqs since my first degree was not in the sciences at all. I just applied to sac state for this upcoming spring semester and so far, I've made the first cut. So it's doable; just takes some planning and researching and your own needs right now. You have more options if you move out of Sacramento as well.
