I am always hearing about what a desperate need there is for nurses, and would imagine that there would be something in NYC similar to the “teaching fellows” program -- getting a free education and paid experience at the same time. I know of many hospitals in other states that provide such a program/”deal” for CNAs, but haven’t found anything like that in NYC. Is there some secret program I don’t know about? I want to get started on my career in health care, but don’t want to rack up a ton of debt. Any information on where to look? The thing I get stuck on when searching is this: would this be a program through a school or through a hospital? HELP!!

I am currently looking for a CNA course in the NY area as well. I have found 3 schools thus far that offer the course but no information on hospitals giving free education. I was a bit surprised. I am meeting with a school on Thursday.
The schools all cost abour $600-$800 dollars. They all have payment plans.
Btw, if you do get into a nursing program you can sit for the CNA board exam after one clinical I believe.
