So I'm in AP 1, and Micro so most of our students are prenursing students. Well, we're delving into grades and whatnot. I'm starting to feel moderately screwed. It's not that my grades are HORRIBLE, but they aren't A's. In my pre and corequisites, I have one A, 2 B+, 2 B's, a B-, and a C+. Granted, I still have AP 1 & 2, and Micro. I'm determined to get all A's in those courses. However, I'm still scared.
My pre and coreq GPA so far is 3.1, and my science GPA so far is a 3.3..
I'm looking at applying for next Fall, but starting to wonder if my grades are even competitive enough to matter..

Same here. I know my GPA is considered competitive, but I just don't know if it's competitive enough to get me in the school I WANT to go to. Those other grades are in the past and there's nothing we can do about it (unless we retake them--my school doesn't allow that). The most we can do is strive for A's in the rest of our classes before we can apply and hope for the best. I don't dwell on my bad grades anymore because it gives me anxiety.
I'm sure you'll get in somewhere :) Trust me, I know people who have gotten in with FAR FAR less than what you have. Your GPA isn't bad and you still have time to bump it up. Good luck!

What are your schools standards on retaking courses? I was young & immature right out of high school so I had 2 Fs and 2 Ds and like 3 Cs. I retook them all and raised my gpa from a 1.93 to a 3.41 in just 2 semesters. Luckily my BSN program doesn't care about retakes. They only look at GPA.

Hey, it's a little early to be feeling "moderately screwed." You can start worrying about admissions once you've applied but for now it's only going to distract you from focusing fully on the matters at hand. Your grades aren't horrible, and luckily you still have what are arguably the most important prereqs (A&P I/II, micro) left to take. I don't know what school you're applying to but my program calculated the science prerequisite GPA separately and weighted it way more heavily than the overall GPA. If the program places a lot of importance on standardized test scores (TEAS, HESI) or gives extra points for volunteer/work experience or knowledge of a second language that could be a huge opportunity to give your application a boost. You know what you have to do, so stop worrying and do it! :)

I feel the same about my GPA, I have so many B's and one C on my transcript. My GPA isn't terrible but it isn't close to what my dream schools expect, I try not to think about my GPA too much anymore and just focus on my present course load. Don't forget other factors are looked at besides GPA like TEAS score. Also try grade forgiveness if your school allows it. :)
Well, we go by points. Even if I get A's in all my classes from now on, I'll be getting 17/19 points. 18-19's are the ones that get in. Which is why I'm paranoid. My school allows you to retake, but you're ONLY allowed to retake 4 classes, and I've already retaken two.. :/
Maybe if I could at least get rid of the C+, I'd be in better position.
Well, I just wanted to update you guys. I decided to retake my B-(English 2), since I lost my financial aid due to only taking 9 credits when 12 is a full semester. So that'll be one o my worse grades gone! I'm going to retake my C+ as well, possibly next semester if I can. :)
