Getting My First Nursing Job

Published

I'm having trouble getting my first nursing job. I didn't work as a PCT while I was in school. Would getting a PCT job now still work as a path to a nursing job even though have my RN?

I'm willing to do what it takes!

Highly unlikely that any organization is going to hire a licensed RN as a PCT. As a licensed professional, your obligation to your profession always supersedes your obligation to an employer (jobs come and go, but you only have one license). Once you are an RN, you are accountable to comply with your Nurse Practice Act if you are working in a health care role no matter what the job description says. So this creates a huge liability issue for both you and the employer.....

you paid $$$ to get an RN license, so let's not waste that money not to get the RN experience. Did you only apply to hospital jobs? Try to cast a wider net.
