Getting a manager to notice me and offer me a job

Published

I was invited for interview in so many NHS hospital, I was so happy but none of them said that i am successful. Actually job was for band 5 nurse, i am overseas nurse and i have experience in my own country, about 5 years. I am quite fluent in english language, still they do not hire me. I am wondering whether NHS do not wanna hire nurses, i guess they just interview and do not hire anybody else, If I ask for feedbak they would say just because other were better than me. Does anyone know how to be successful?

Sometimes it can be hard especially the way jobs are at the moment in the UK. Do you have leave to work in the UK or do you require a work permit? Just wonder if that is a stumbling block for you. How recent is your experience and does the jobs you apply for match experience?

Another thing you may have to consider if it is appropriate is look for a job elsewhere and move

Thank you so much for the suggestion, I have got dependent visa, as my husband is citizen here. I wonder why i was called for interview if they do not hire me because i just wasted lots money and time. Well, I have worked many years in hospital and did not work for about 8 months because I was preparing for IELTS and took time to get UK visa.

Er, not to be rude, but -- that's how interviews work? You said you've already asked them why you weren't hired and they told you that other candidates were "better," so I'm guessing they hired one of them instead. You could ask them to give you more specific pointers on how to improve your interviewing skills, but unfortunately getting the interview doesn't mean you'll automatically get the job.

Thank you both of you for the answers and suggestion. I agree to some extent that it might be communication skill that did not make me stand out. however, i would say i am not that much bad in communication as compared to other overseas nurses. it is is undoubtedly true that i am not as good as native speaker. But, most questions in interview were not that much hard to answer. Well i was more surprised because i saw the advertisement of vacancy in the same ward for the same position again after one month.
