Getting a job with a DWI conviction

Published

Hello, I am writing to see if anyone knows how difficult it will be to get a new job in North Texas with a DWI conviction. I'm 25 have been sober for over a year and am just worried about the future. Any positive help

would be appreciated. Thank you:)

Hey there NurseInk, good for you staying sober for a year #1 priority taking care of yourself. As for working, well I've had 3 DWI convictions, I'm still working as a nurse. For me, all 3 DWI's were while I was on vacay time. NEVER as nurse on the job. Although humbling admitting to managers, and peers I have a problem with alcohol (I drink it and break out in handcuffs). I've been able to move forward in my career. You can too, be honest, build up your strengths, don't embellish on past mistakes, answer only the questions they ask, then build up your strengths. Stay positive and be your own best friend, your worth it! ...Peace...

Thank you for replying. Were you able

to get a job in a hospital? Or at LTAC facilities or psych? I just don't know what hospitals think.

I've been working in a hospital for 22 years, never lost my job, (just some self respect, but got that back). Listen ya can't change the past it's done, Don't worry about the future, it's not here yet. Do what ya can today to be the best possible person you can for "YOU" today. If you see a job you want go for it, so ya made a mistake don't let that stop you from living your dreams. You can do this, your young and back on track, smile at yourself in the mirror be proud, ...Peace...
