Have you thought about doing caregiver work in clients homes in the meantime before you take your test? When is your test scheduled for? I received mine in AZ and another license here in SC by transferring it, sorta. I know in AZ they told me the same thing about getting a job before I get my certification and no one would hire me. So as soon as I got my CNA cert, I think a week later i got a call and got hired. good luck!!!!
Thanks for the replies. At this point, I am just going to wait to take my test and get certified. I applied for the test date of 8/16 and am waiting to hear if I got it. I have some money in the bank, so I am just going to hold off on any more cold calls, study for my Finals, and then get certified. God has helped me to get this far so I know he'll help me to get even farther and keep a roof over my head and food in the fridge!
Thanks again!

Hello, All:
I recently completed my CNA class and cliinicals and I am waiting to take the certification exam. I know that I cannot apply to any nursing homes before certification per DHEC, but Palmetto Health, Providence, and Lexington will allow you to apply and give time to take the exam if hired. I have applied to all 3 and received the "no thank you" emails from 2 of them. I really need a job! I made an 'A' in the class and received an 'A' for clinicals from LMC Extended Care. I would like to deliver my resume and application in person to these locations.
Does anyone know if there is any way I can get my application information into the "right hands" so that I can at least get a chance? I will be starting Clinicals in the ADN program at Midlands Tech this upcoming spring which is why I wanted to get a jump on my learning and become a CNA. I know that you can try to get an Aide placement after taking Nursing 101, but I can't afford to wait that long to look for a job. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am not scheduled for my certification exam until August 18th, but I have gotten my CPR certification.
Thanks!
