getting hired at Stony Brook

Published

I have my BSN (SBU 2014) and working part time as school nurse in a private school since Oct 2013. I want to skip nursing homes and want to get hired at Stony Brook especially but I will start with any hospital. I have applied everywhere since Nov 2014, had one interview at Stony Brook on Feb 19 and after a month of wait and then my own phone investigation I was told they hired someone else. I think its my school nurse job? maybe my references ( from school administration), and previous co-worker (school nurse) but not so much of nursing related ? but I don't know. My question is that after one interview/ rejection does Stony Brook calls for another interview/different position if one keeps applying ? and what should I change this time to get hired ?

I don't know about Stony Brook, per se, but I do live on LI, and I am a school nurse. After working in the hospital for 22 years I feel completely unraveled with 7 months of SN experience. I feel like... if I don't get another nursing job soon where I am doing more traditional nursey type stuff "they" will assume I've lost my skills. SN is a totally different world. I had an emergency today, and yesterday and the day before, but they are different types of emergencies than in the hospital.

What else do you have experience in?

And, are you locked in to Stony Brook? Why?
