I have passed the Nclex exam last Aug 2007. My pass letter will expire this Aug 2010. I am just inquiring the process on how to get the actual license. I have left my pass letter in the Phils. Is it needed to get the license? Is there a form I need to send to CA BON so they can send me the license?
Thanks.

Do you have a SSN ? If not you don't have a license to renew. I suggest a good read on this forum.

There's a sticky on top of the International Forum that has many nursing topics, you may want to start your search there. If not, then use the google search at the top right hand corner of the forum and you will find tons of threads with people similar to you.
Hmm. I have had a good read around this forum. I know ITIN's has worked for some people in getting their licenses. I don't have an ITIN and SSN. I know I won't be able to get my license without SSN. There is retrogression, yes, no visa for 5 years or so.
My question is, if i do get the SSN or ITIN. How would i pass those info to CA BON. Do I have to include my passing letter? The letter they sent after passing NCLEX? Or will there be a specific form to send it in via mail? via fax?

Once you have a SSN (ITIN may not be accepted and if accepted generally you need a SSN for renewal) you just need to fax the CA BRN with the details plus your details and they will issue a license. If you are not already living in the US and DO NOT meet requirements for ITIN then one shouldn't be issued. Remember you can ask for a extension but give yourself time because if denied you need to apply to another state and protect your NCLEX results otherwise you may loose it and have to start over again
If you contact the CA BRN and email them (use the licensing email) they will tell you that ITIN IS NOT ACCEPTABLE in place of a ss#. They are aware that it's been used in the past illegally. If I were you, I would stay away from this because that can get you into some trouble and you don't know the consequences if it's found that you used the ITIN in place of a ss#. That could constitute fraud, and there's a list of people on the CA BRN website of people who had licensed revoked etc due to fraud and other crimes or incidents that were committed. Good Luck
