Getting discouraged!

Published

Just found out yesterday that I don't have any money left over for books and I am in debt over $1000 still even after managing to get $17,000 paid for my first semester!! School starts August 27th and I have no books!!! HOW CAN I POSSIBLY PASS WITH NO BOOKS!?!?!?!?!

I just feel like breaking down!!!!!!!:crying2:

You could sell your computer?? lol thats all i got

Keep in mind too, you dont have to come up with the money to buy them necessarily. There are rental services available that carry a lot of the books and are much much cheaper than buying. I have a lot of classmates doing that.

I would check and see if your school has an emergency fund.

This is exactly the type of thing that I think student nursing organizations need to be helping with.

Many books come with a downloadable version when they are purchased. I am not sure if there is a way another student can share that with you. I know plenty of people who use the library to check their nursing books out for the entire semester.

Financial aid may have emergency loans to purchase books. Also Chegg is a place that you can rent the book from. If you go online to buy the previous used editition, it is usually very cheap and exactly the same material. Don't let the turkeys get you down!

Awwww Thank you ADN2B...!! I'm going to try every possibility!!

Hi! I was going to suggest the same thing as the previous poster. I'm an RN finishing a BSN and for my last class (community health) I actually rented my textbook for $26 for the entire semester because I couldn't find it anywhere else for less than $150. Don't know if you have ZERO funds to work with, but this was a GREAT option for me. The worst part about it was to remember that I couldn't highlight stuff in the book as I read it because I had to return it at the end of the semester. If there was something that was invaluable and I felt I really needed to write on the book pages, I just made copies of the important pages and highlighted to my heart's content. Google "textbook rentals" and see what you get. I used bookrenter. Good luck!

Thank You MarcyRN !!!!!

LOL!!!! I sure will..that's all I can afford to do right now!!! LOL

There was a class I took a while ago as just like you, I couldnt afford the textbook. Our schools library has textbooks you can check out for a few days at a time, they will also let you copy chapters out of the book.
