Getting Back Into Nursing

Nurses General Nursing

I need advice, please. I graduated nursing school almost three years ago. Immediately following graduation, I got a job on a med surg unit.

The position I applied was a daytime position but I was offered a night shift opening. I took the job but unfortunately was not able to function on nights, with only two hours of sleep during the day. I tried everything to make it work. It didn't. I ended up leaving after only four months on the job and took an admin job, not related to nursing.

Two years later I would really like to get back into the nursing field. My license is current and so are all of me CE credits.

My questions are these: what would be my chances of getting back into the nursing field, having only had four months of actual experience? Should I even try to apply? Should I take a refresher course? What are your recommendations?

I would probably start by putting out some applications and seeing if anyone calls back. Your chances of getting back in with minimal effort are greatly dependent on the market in your area.
