Getting adn while stationed overseas

Published

Hello, my husband is in the military and we will be (hopefully) moving soon. Our top pick would be Hawaii or Germany (as I am from Germany, and would love to go back home for a while). I want to become a RN, specifically l&d. I have a bachelor's degree in business but looking into getting my ADN. I have searched and have not found an answer, so hopefully someone can help here. Is it possible to get my ADN while stationed in Germany?

Unlike some higher level degrees, there is a required clinical component to an ADN program. I don't see how you would get your required clinical time in a variety of areas? You need to enroll in a college/university there. What are the chances you will be stationed long enough to finish and not worry about a transfer? Keep us posted.

I am not even sure an adn is what I need to do to become a RN. Wherever we get stationed, we would stay for at least 3 years. I'm just not sure what is offered on base, and I'm having a hard time finding concrete information.

Check out Grand Canyon University. They cater to military folk. Not sure that they'll provide your whole nursing degree (and not sure I trust a nursing program that's on-line only) but it may be a start.

An associate degree is 2 plus years and is a shorter path than the BSN 4 years.
