Hello Everyone,

I will be entering my third semester of nursing school in August of this year. I graduate with my Associates Degree in Nursing May 2018. I am very excited about becoming an RN and eager to further my career. I have been in the healthcare field for 13 years as a Nurse Tech. After obtaining my degree I have decided to become a Nurse Practitioner. After much research I have chosen George Washington University as my program of choice. I will be applying to the RN-MSN program with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration. I chose this program because it is an accelerated program and they have good reviews and pass rate according to my research. There a number of reasons why I chose this program. I have done research but I would love to talk to people who have actually completed the program, are in it now, or will be applying in the future.

Some of the questions I have are as follows, (feel free to comment with any info)

Has anyone entered the George Washington Hospital Nursing Scholars program? It is a contract in which you can work there for residency, they pay 100% of tuition, and job placement.

There is also a similar program through Medstar Hospital called Washington Squared which pays 50 % of tuition. Is anyone in that program?

There is also an option through my current school called VCCS Guaranteed Admission in which you are guaranteed acceptance because of being a student within the Virginia Community College System. Has anyone been accepted this way?

For those who are in the program or have completed it, what was your GPA and SAT scores? Experience? Affiliations?

Any tips or info regarding the NursingCAS system?

Housing near the hospital will also be an issue. I will be relocating and have a child who will be 10 around the time I relocate. I want to be close to the school/hospital but do not want to be in a dorm or party environment because of my child. I would rather be in a house in a neighborhood close to the school with a good elementary/middle school.

I know this is a long post but I'm sure there are others out there with some of the same questions I have. I saw other, similar threads but no recent posts. Thanks in advance!
