if they are ambulatory and able to get about pretty well teach them about the free elderly activities and resources that are available to them in their community. teach them about what is new. if they are alert enough to sit and listen, they are sharp enough to learn what is new in healthcare. don't assume they have been living in a cave. talk about the new products and suggestions for treatment for chronic diseases of the elderly such as arthritis or skin cancer. or, why eye exams are important. i posted a bunch of geriatric topics on this sticky thread some time ago: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/medical-disease-information-258109.html - medical disease information/treatment/procedures/test reference websites

That is wonderful that you will be teaching geriatric patients.
I would appreciate that all of the above is taught including the following:
1. Maintaining activities for daily living (ADL)
2. Skin care
3. Different types of abuse
4. Patient's rights
5. The importance of walking and weight training
6. Hydration
7. Know when to call the doctor
As a CNA/CNT, I watched a great many patient's condition deteriorate because they did not know how much control they have over their care.
