Potential employer has "letter from CMS due to high decubs" bad sign?

Hey all, I went to an interview ... for a charge position (RN) no less..as a new grad... although I do not think I will take the job due to scheduling ANd the pay was less than any other place in town...even as a charge (this is a small facility) And due to the following...I am just wondering if anyone can clarify for me as I am not familiar w/LTC..

During the interview I was told that this place had a letter from CMS in WA DC b/c they had a 21 percent decub rate...

They said it was not really a measure because they were sent pts w/decub b/c the rep from one of the RNs was that they were good at healing them. So the numbers were skewed.

Who is CMS...and could this be fact? Or is this a warning sign when an employer says this.

CMS is nobody to fool around with. They can come in and shut a facility down.

I hope the facility charts and documents really well if/when they get any Decub's. I have to do a body Assessment on all people when they get admitted/return, as we have gotten a few doozeys.

numbers can definitely be misleading, for they don't tell the whole story.

although 21% is high, it still does not mean the origin of the decubs happened at that facility.

that's why immaculate and thorough documentation is crucial.

a good note will tell the whole story.

I would venture a guess that proper docs are done..I know I certainly would if I worked there.

But - it was something I hadn't heard of yet so thought I'd ask. thanks.
