I am at work, and i have a pt with a chylis (doesn't happen often). I am alone (no other nurses) and i need to know jow many gtts in a ml, it is infusing at 16gtts per min, i want to write how many ml per hour. there is no set rate, it is palliative care.
thanks, i know this is a dumb question!

I think it depends on the size of the tubing, doesn't it? Man it's been a LONG time since I've used gtt/min!!

gtt varies with the type of tubing there are macro tubing sets that are 10 or 15 gtts per ml, and then there is the micro drip tubing set which is 60 gtts per ml. the gtt per ml is usually marked on the package the tubing came in. hope that helps
