Im thinking of applying to Georgian College for the Registered Practical Nursing course and wondered what others thought of their program? I also wondered if Georgian makes you take the HOAE test as well?

Any and all info welcome.

Thank you

I graduated from OS Georgian in 2010. I was at Conestoga College before and I disliked it. OS will give you better class sizes and better placements.

I loved it so much - the coordinator walked me through applying and kept an eye on me during the program.

You only have to do 1 HOAE exam for any Georgian applications.

Georgian College is more willing to accept you more than any other school. My friend has an 80 percent average and she passed the HOAE with 70 percent and she got accepted. The other schools she didn't get accepted to

Did you find it easy or hard to get a job when you graduated? Do people hiring look down soon graduated from Georgian College? I don't really get a choice in where I go. It's the only school I can apply to.

They really don't care, don't stress about it. Some might say otherwise, but the general consensus is that as long as you have passed your national exam and hold your registration with the CNO that is what matters. The school is just the train that gets you there.

No I knew someone who attended Georgian and they got a job. It depends on your qualifications, volunteer work, work experience, and you have to have certain characteristics. Just be caring, helpful, friendly and outgoing. It's simple characteristics which ever hospital looks for. Georgian College graduates are in good hands, a lot of them got hired. So it depends on you, how you're going to use those skills, and qualifications that you have to apply it to the work force. As of right now, try to get the most volunteer experience as you can, try to get internships while you're in Georgian, and try to get some references from your school.

I graduated from Georgian College (Owen Sound). Everyone from my year passed the CPNRE. I had no issue finding a job. In fact, I started to work as a RPN before my graduation, under a temporary license.

The class sizes are great, and there is a lot of help, if needed.
