KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks!

Ok That's not bad. Thanks for the info!

Also, remember you need to pass your competencies to continue in holistic. Same goes for Adult health secod semester and for senior checkoffs. You will have to drop the class and pick it up when the next one is available so just practice practice practice..you do get 3 times but people do fail...even the most competent....just utilize the lab hours and you will all do great!!!

Hey NGgirl and anyone else reading that is on standby. I talked to Fran yesterday and she said they have to wait until grades are calculated and to keep my fingers crossed. She also reiterated that there are not a lot on the stand-by list and we should all get in.

So now I'll just continue to wait and keep my fingers, toes, and anything else I can crossed...LOL!

Happy waiting!!!!!

For those who got into the nursing program starting KSU in the Spring: Can I ask what your GPA's were and your TEAS Scores? I am wondering how hard it is to get into this program. I hear conflicting reports.

I am thinking about the nursing program and am a current KSU student. I have tried my hand at teaching and do not enjoy it, so am thinking about a new profession. Nursing sounds like it might be a great fit for me. Any help is appreciated!

@isabunny,

it depends on the statistics of your competition when you apply. I know of someone with a 3.1 GPA that is almost finished with the program now. On the other hand, I know of people with 3.3 GPA's that did not even get the chance to interview. The best answer is that it just depends on how you are ranked with the other students that apply. And remember they look at 4/5 areas to determine if you will be invited to an interview. I think if you look at earlier posts to this thread, you will find some stats of the spring 2012 class.

Thanks IslandRae. I had only looked back about 10 pages. There was some GPA & TEAS info on the first couple of pages. Thanks for the help!

I first applied in the summer and was rejected. But I was called for an interview for Fall semester with the same stat. However, I missed the interview sign up date(lol I know) and had to reapply for Spring 2012 and I was called for an interview and I got in as well. So my guess will be that they likely accept more students in the Fall & Spring than summer added to what IslandRae said: it depends the group you competiting with. I don't think I mentioned my gpa on here anyways mine was 3.7 cumulative if that helps :)

They are no longer accepting summer applicants...only fall and spring. I would definitely talk to the advisors. F will help you figure out where you stand. I know when I got in, she told me to get at least an 85 on the TEAS V. There are certain things you can change quickly to make you more competitive and that is one of them. If you don't get a letter to interview for fall, don't be discouraged, make an appointment and find out what you can do. I belies the deadline for fall is coming up so I would get everything in.

Good luck!!!

I'm pretty sure you can still get a free app for the same book if you have an iphone.

I have an Android phone...do you know if it has the free app also?

IslandRae,

I was going to call F this past week, but got side tracked. I have been trying to be patient, but it's soooo hard. So did F sound like everyone on the standby list would be getting in for both accelerated and traditional? I was just wondering if she gave you accelerated program stats only.

I really do hope that she calls hopefully this next week. I really am just ready to know what my January is going to be looking like.

Again, thanks for sharing the info!

don't forget your paperwork for thursday the 15th!! and to submit your background checks but don't do drug test until after first day of school.

can't wait to meet you all so soon!
