GSU Fall 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Not sure if there's one of these started already, but it's still pretty far off, so I thought I'd make one. Have any of you guys taken the TEAS yet? If not, where are you taking it? I didn't see any dates listed for GSU.

Do you know when they start sending out letters? If I get deferred, I'll probably switch my focus, graduate with my other degree (I only have a semester left of residency hours), and reapply as a post-bacc. I wrote about my experiences with Type I diabetes and stigma attached to it.

I'm not sure how everything is weighted, except I know that the TEAS and GPA are most important. Turning in my application today!! :)

"Application Status: Complete - Ready for Review

Application Type: HHS Professional Program*"

The wait begins! Does anyone know when they usually send the first round of letters out? I know the deadline is still a week away, but I'm already freaking out! And I still have to pass A&P 1 and 2! Haha :)

I'm freaking out too! Some letters can be sent out as early as March 9th but I mean those are for the people with perfect scores and GPA's. I think the majority of people receive their letters at the end of march usually. I can't enjoy our spring break with this stress.

breezy7, are you taking A&P 1 right now? I am taking it, and doing well in it (so far, LOL). I plan to take A&P 2 this summer. We seem to be in the same boat!

I haven't turned in my application yet; I'll be doing that tomorrow. I just took the TEAS on Feb. 24 and ATI hasn't posted the results yet, but I think I did well. My program GPA is 3.68 so far - I think I can get a 4.0 this semester, but it won't count in terms of my application (bummer! ). So, I'm hoping I did well enough on my TEAS to give me a better shot.

Yes, I'm taking A&P 1 right now, along with Micro Lab and Bio 2. So glad I'm taking Bio - it's my "easy" class and a nice way to relax. I don't think I'll be getting a 4.0 this semester, so I'm pretty glad that this semester won't count beyond just passing! Are you guys trying for TRAD also?

And I know what you mean! I totally can't enjoy spring break. I've been studying and thinking about studying the whole time, hahah.

I'm applying to the ACE program. I wish the fact that I already have a BS in micro and an MPH counted for something! I'm actually revising my short answers and essay at the moment, so yeah, no Spring Break relaxation for me. I also have a Psych 1101 exam next week to study for. Come to think of it, the only springs breaking around here will probably be the ones in my desk chair - because I'll be sitting in it studying most of the week!:jester:

BTW, who do you have for A&P 1? I'm not able to send private messages yet and we can't post instructor's names, but I'm just wondering if you're in any of my classes, LOL.

Good luck on that! It feels fantastic to finally turn the app in. :) I also included an academic CV, because I've done some work outside of school, and there wasn't much room in the short answer section to sell ourselves. I'm really hoping my TEAS score pushes me to the top of the pile; since I'm still taking so many required courses, I'm worried I won't have enough points to get in.

I have Borek at 8, and I'm thinking about taking Chapman at 8 over the summer. I have her for Bio, and she's loads of fun.

Cool, I'm taking Clancy now, but I want to take Ross for summer. I hear she's tough, but an excellent instructor. I'm up for the challenge.

I plan to turn in my app tomorrow. I'm leaving right now to pick up one of my rec. letters. You're right, there's not much room to sell yourself in the short answer section, but I hadn't thought about adding a copy of my CV. I'll have to consider that, but I sure hope they don't penalize you for not "following the rules", so to speak, by adding that into the packet. Did you ask any of the advisors about that? I don't see how it could hurt, but I don't know how picky they are about those things.

If they're that picky, then I'm not sure the program is even right for me, you know? If that would REALLY affect my chances, that would be incredibly upsetting. I don't want to be just a number, and it saddens me that GSU seems to be heading in that direction more and more.

And, yes, Ross is supposed to be excellent! Unfortunately, my work schedule won't allow me to take her :/ definitely glad Chapman is the other option.

I'm applying for TRAD also. I asked Ms. Reed if adding a CV would affect anything and she told me I could add it if I wanted to but they won't even look at it which upsets me so I didn't bother to include it. I'm taking Ross now. She's AMAZING. You won't regret taking her. She's tough but not impossible. I feel like a lot of people just exaggerate her difficulty level.

I wonder how many applicants we have this semester. I hope its not above 400. :/

Thanks for the info about the CV issue, GSUhopeful. I guess I won't bother adding it then, but I agree that it is rather upsetting that they won't even look at it. There's so much more that qualifies one to be a nursing student than GPAs and TEAS scores; I hope GSU considers the WHOLE student more in the future. But for now, we're stuck in the numbers game, I guess.:banghead:

I'm psyched about taking Ross next semester. My SI instructor for 1110 raves about Dr. Ross. I really like the fact that she focuses on case studies; that makes the material more "real".

And yes, I also hope we don't have a ton of applicants - that would give us a better shot, LOL.

Just handed in my ACE application a few hours ago, and ATI just posted my TEAS results. My stats are below:

Program GPA = 3.68

TEAS = 90.7

It's in God's hands now. I'm praying for all of you, too!
