Emory ABSN/MSN accepted students summer 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hey everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for those of us who have been accepted to the ABSN/MSN program at Emory. I thought it would be helpful in discussing preparations for next year and getting to know each other! Congrats!

I got a call from the school today congratulating me! So cool :)

Also- I'm filling out my CSS profile today for financial aid. Can anyone tell me how we're supposed to respond to this question on the refistration form? "What will be the student's year in college or university during 2011-12?" I'm a second degree student, and I think all ABSN/MSN students are considered undergraduate students for the first part of the program, and then graduate students? So would I put "1st year (previously attended college/university)" or "5th year or more undergraduate?" Thanks!

Just FYI to anyone else with prereqs left to complete- Emory will accept online courses, even if they require labs! That's good news for me. :)

Thanks wonderful! I still in the process of completing my FAFSA and CSS Profile.. Silvrdove: I would select the 5th year or undergraduate option.

Wow, I didn't get a phone call too! You must be extra special! :lol2: I am still working on my taxes in order to finish the FAFSA and CSS Profile. I started that one but, man did anyone else feel a little overwhelmed with some of the questions they asked? How much did I pay for my house? What is the value now? How much do you owe on your mortagage? I know they have to assess your financial need, but I was a little put off.

My only concern now is paying for the program, anyone else married with kids?

Hi Everyone! Congrats to all of you who have received your acceptance letters. I have a few questions, if you wouldn't mind sharing. I too applied to the ABSN/MSN program, but I haven't received a decision letter yet so I am just wondering where I stack up.

1. GPA

2. GRE Score

3. What is your Bachelor's degree in?

4. When did you submit your application (i.e. September or Decemeber)?

Also, does anyone know how many students get accepted to this program? On the internet there are all sorts of numbers, but the last I heard it was 30-40? I don't know how reliable that is though. It seems as if there is a good spread of specialties from everyone who has been accepted.

Thanks for any help you can offer as I sit on pins and needles waiting for a decision. Congrats again!

@mandawyatt I felt the CSS pprofile was very intrusive as well. I am married with 2 kids. How about you?

Did anyone apply for the fuld or woddruff scholarship? I know the deadline has passed already.

@ Amay211 I heard that 130 applied, and 40 got accepted.

@silvrdove: Have you found an online A&P II course? Just curious if they have one out there that hasn't started yet that also has a lab credit. Thanks!~

Hi Amay211,

I've found a few places to take A/P II, but I'm not 100% sure that all of them are accredited. Here are the links though, in case they are helpful for you! Let me know if you find something too! I'm still trying to get my previous course approved...

I'm sorry you're still waiting! It's such a stressful process :( I'm still waiting to hear back from schools in the Northeast. My boyfriend lives in Boston, so I would really like to be able to study closer to him. Emory's deposits are due by March 1, so I'm sure they'll be sending out another set of acceptances at that point (if not before too- I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!).

I don't think that my stats are very impressive, but I'm sure that I had strong recommendations and a good essay. My GRE total was 1230, with a 4.5 analytical writing score. My undergrad GPA was only a 3.07, and my prereq GPA was around a 3.75. I majored in Bioethics and didn't submit my application until the day before the December priority deadline. I hope that helps you!

Thank you for all of your information! That is a great help! I have faith that if it is meant to be it will be, so I'm trying not to be overly stressed out about things.

Thanks again!~

Hi everyone! :) I was accepted into the Pediatric program! I am very excited, Emory was definitely my top choice! I see some other people are worried about the finances too.. glad I am not the only one.. Does anybody know when they will send out information about scholarships and financial aid? Also, who all is going to the accepted students meeting? I think it'd be great to meet some future classmates!

@ayti I am married and have 2 kids. My daughter is 5 and 1/2 (she says the half is VERY important! LOL) and a son who just turned 2.

I can't remember what I got exactly on the GRE. I took the new version and only got the new scores since it was after Dec. 1. I rocked the Word/English part, I think my percentage was like 90% for that part and I did HORRIBLE on the math part. Seriously, MOST of my questions were Geometry and it has been like 20 years since I took that class. So, I only got like 20% in Math. My cumulative GPA is only like 3.2 and this is because my Prerequisites GPA is 4.0. I have a BA in History.

I did register for the Accepted Student's day and I made an appointment with the financial aid lady to talk about my options and possibilities. I got my taxes, FAFSA, and CSS profile all filed on Friday. So hopefully I will find out about my financial aid package before the March 1st deadline. :-)

I can't wait to meet everyone! Does anyone have any idea what the schedule will look like? What the first day of class will be? Is it like 8-5 everyday? Only weekdays or will we have classes on weekends too?
