I don't really know what to expect. I am bringing multiple copies of my resume and an inside source told me that they are only hiring 20 people. So, I hope that there aren't 200 people at the meet and greet for only 20 jobs!!

@silvrdove I am sorry that I can't meet up before hand. I thought I was going to have baby duty in the morning, and arranged for my husband to have him, and now I have to meet up with some classmates to study for a Micro test. I don't know very much about that area anyway, so I probably wouldn't be the best one in regards to housing. But, when I went to campus last week, I saw several nice looking apartment complexes right next to campus that you can look into. Are you going to have a rental car? I wouldn't bother scheduling a meeting with the financial aid gal. You really don't learn anything concrete. @ayti She didn't tell me the exact criteria for Need/Merit based aid. She said it varies on the Merit based because of rules of endowment set up by the donor. But, she said some of them are pretty loosely worded like - "Give to a student who you think is going to excel." She said, you have been admitted to Emory, so we assume you are going to excel! LOL The amounts for those vary from $1,000-3,000 per semester. I guess we are all in the same boat with no Pell Grants because we have a degree already. :-( She said they would be awarding them in the next few weeks, but that it was very rare for someone to NOT come to the school because of financial aid. I looked into that Health Corps loan cancelling thing and it was confusing, but looked like you can't apply until after you are actually in the program. I am not sure though. Does anyone else know? @OneChance I don't know everyone's statistics. A couple of us did post ours on here though if you read back. I know you are nervously waiting, but I wouldn't put too much energy into comparing your numbers to anyone else's. Numbers are just one of the things they look at. I asked Katie Kennedy in the Admissions office about the average age of people in the programs and she told me that in the regular program, they try and keep it 1/2 Traditional students and 1/2 Non-Traditional, so they have extra factors that they look at that they NEVER tell us. You have submitted your application, so now all you need to do is sit back and relax! :-)

Hi! I am also worried about financial aid. I am 34 and married, so it doesn't matter what my parents make, and my husband has a GREAT job, but we are pretty much floating at even right now. My biggest worry is having to take out more student loans than my HOUSE is worth. But my husband is VERY supportive and he says we are going for it, so we are. Katie Kennedy in Admissions/Financial Aid for the nursing school said that they have need based and merit based aid to award and that is not common for students to not enter the program because of money. I did ask about cost of supplies and stuff and she said to expect books for the summer to cost around $1800 and that there is a very expensive piece of software that we have to have for our phone that costs about $600. She is trying to get that rolled into tuition and fees though. So, we do have to have a smart phone if you don't have one. Which I don't. @T-Dasha - Do you know what kinds of phone students have right now and which phone company people like the best? I have Sprint and I can't get service in my HOUSE, so not sure about in the hospital, although my DH has a smart phone and he gets service everywhere, so it might just be my crap phone. Thanks! :-)

@danceluver it says in the program description that the ABSN goes 15 months, it ends in August and the MSN starts in October. So you have 6 weeks to study and pass the NCLEX.

I didn't apply to the two the emailed about because I didn't fit the criteria. My Cumulative GPA is only a 3.2 and I have been a stay at home mom for a long time, so I didn't feel I had any socially conscious work to put on the other one. I live in Gwinnett, the Dacula area. I am about 10 minutes from Mall of Georgia. I can't remember where Smyrna is. I haven't been in the area that long. There is a park and ride not far from my house and it will take you to midtown where I guess I would have to get MARTA to take me to Emory. Has anyone done anything like that? I like the idea of not being in charge of driving, but not sure how complicated and/or reliable that type of transportation is. @T-Dasha Does everyone in the ABSN participate in the International Summer Immersion? It sounds really cool, so I wasn't sure if it was one of those things you have to apply and get accepted for separately. I will definitely be there on the 10th! Amanda

@olive36 I wouldn't give up hope just yet. There is always the chance that they haven't sent out all the letters and if they have, then probably not everyone will accept their slot and spaces can still come available. :-)

Thanks, that is very helpful!! I have a TON of questions! How do you like the program? Are you glad that you are doing the ABSN or do you wish you were doing the regular BSN? I know I have more questions, but I can't think of them right now! I made the financial aid appt with Katie Kennedy this Friday. She was super nice about it, just send her an email. Silvrdove, I can't meet up before hand because I will have my son all morning. Sorry! I am really not very familiar with that part of town, I live about an hour away from campus and will have to commute.

@ayti I am married and have 2 kids. My daughter is 5 and 1/2 (she says the half is VERY important! LOL) and a son who just turned 2. I can't remember what I got exactly on the GRE. I took the new version and only got the new scores since it was after Dec. 1. I rocked the Word/English part, I think my percentage was like 90% for that part and I did HORRIBLE on the math part. Seriously, MOST of my questions were Geometry and it has been like 20 years since I took that class. So, I only got like 20% in Math. My cumulative GPA is only like 3.2 and this is because my Prerequisites GPA is 4.0. I have a BA in History. I did register for the Accepted Student's day and I made an appointment with the financial aid lady to talk about my options and possibilities. I got my taxes, FAFSA, and CSS profile all filed on Friday. So hopefully I will find out about my financial aid package before the March 1st deadline. :-) I can't wait to meet everyone! Does anyone have any idea what the schedule will look like? What the first day of class will be? Is it like 8-5 everyday? Only weekdays or will we have classes on weekends too?

Wow, I didn't get a phone call too! You must be extra special! I am still working on my taxes in order to finish the FAFSA and CSS Profile. I started that one but, man did anyone else feel a little overwhelmed with some of the questions they asked? How much did I pay for my house? What is the value now? How much do you owe on your mortagage? I know they have to assess your financial need, but I was a little put off. My only concern now is paying for the program, anyone else married with kids?

When I looked yesterday my status was not updated yet in OPUS. I am planning on attending the accepted students day. I can't wait to get more info!!

Hi!! I got my acceptance letter on Saturday!! I applied for Family Nurse Midwife. I am totally anxious about financial aid too. I don't know how in the world I am going to pay this off if I have to do it all in loans!
