Georgia Highlands College RN Spring 2013

Published

Hi,

Anyone out there applying to GHC for Spring 2013? I intend on applying but I would like to hear some other people's stats. I already have a BA with an overall GPA 3.4. I am currently taking pre-reqs for the program, but I have taken I have mostly As and a couple Bs. I don't have to submit SAT scores because of my BA. When I called the office, they said that they consider the SAT an 1100 with a BA. I am taking my TEAS this summer.

Please share your info! Any advise or experiences would be much appreciated too!

Darn! Another week of torture!!:( I guess I will take a break on stalking the mailbox for a few days.

Awesome ladies, very happy for you! Way to go!

Thank you, hope everyone received good news!

I may be interested in your books/uniform for the RN program!! Also, Any advice, tips, pointers you can offer after completing the first semester of the program? Thanks so much!

Hey Ladies,

Here is my e-mail address for those of you who are interested in my used textbooks and uniforms. I will give you full information when you contact me :-) [email protected]

The best advice I can give you is to study early and often! We have 3 days of lecture content a week followed by anywhere from 5-12 or more hours of online content to complete over each weekend (this content is not covered in class and it will be on the test!). The powerpoints are your best friend. It is impossible to read the full chapters they assign with each lecture, but you really do need to read over and study the parts mentioned in the powerpoints because some professors will create their questions from the assigned reading instead of the powerpoints. It can seem overwhelming at times, every test is close to 100 questions. There are 6 exams you take before you go to clinical and then a final exam after clinical. You have to have a 75 average on your first 6 exams to go to clinical and pass the course. If you are someone who wants organization then you will have to be patient, you don't have just one professor you have 5 or 6 and each of them are responsible for their tested material so it can be inconsistent. You just have to take a deep breath and take it as it comes. I would defninitely buy the recommended book used for NANDA statements, I regret that that was a purchase I did not make. That will be such a help in clinical!

Hopefully that helps! Let me know ify ou have any questions!!

Goodluck! :-)

Also, when you e-mail me about the text and uniforms please also include your allnurses id, I want to make sure that I give people a chance to ask in the order they asked on the discussion board!
