Georgia Highlands College RN Spring 2013

Published

Hi,

Anyone out there applying to GHC for Spring 2013? I intend on applying but I would like to hear some other people's stats. I already have a BA with an overall GPA 3.4. I am currently taking pre-reqs for the program, but I have taken I have mostly As and a couple Bs. I don't have to submit SAT scores because of my BA. When I called the office, they said that they consider the SAT an 1100 with a BA. I am taking my TEAS this summer.

Please share your info! Any advise or experiences would be much appreciated too!

Hello I've also applied spring 2013 program! I'm hoping we receive a response soon!!! I've been at GHC for two semester and I'm in my last prerequisite -Microbiology. I'm really afraid that I won't get in because my Microbiology is incomplete! Is there anyone who has the same problem?

I also applied to GHC for Spring 2013. I am transferring from another school, so this Spring would be my first semester at GHC. I'm still going through the "new student" process with orientation and such. I had 75 credit hours that transferred, but of the classes the RN program requires I have all A's and a B in a history class. I think My SAT was something around 1120. The area I'm concerned about is the TEAS, I did great in the math section but terrible in the science.

I'm glad I can meet some people at the college because I don't know anybody. When do they typically send out letters? The anticipation is killing me! Good luck to everyone.

Hi Kelly0314. From what I've gathered the letters should go out next week. I guess it is possible we may not get them until the first week of November. Let's pray for next week! I hope you like GHC. I've been there over a year now. I love it.

BeeCaring22- the only thing I'm missing is POLS, which I'm currently taking. It does lower the worksheet score significantly:(

I'm pretty sure you have to have Micro completed, but maybe since you're currently taking it (thus it will be completed when you begin nursing courses) they will be okay with it. You should email the nursing admissions specialist. I can't put her name on here, but I bet you could call the school and ask for her email.

@dascoli Thanks so much I'm going to try to contact her today. I also was reading on GHC website they are only accepting 40 students for spring!! This is so stressful ugh!!!

Thanks Dascoli20 for the info. I guess the waiting game continues..

I have the same issue; I will be taking Microbiology in the spring, and my application is due in March. From my understanding in talking to admissions, you don't get any points for an incomplete course on your score sheet, but it still counts as an attempt. So, it would be a 0 points/1 attempt. I am also a little worried about this taking down my overall score. I just hope everything else is enough to make up for it! Good luck. Hoping to hear good news from all of you shortly!

@cbear85 It's so stressful but it doesn't hurt to try you never know until then! Just try to score high on your teas and in your science. If I don't get in I'm just going to explore other schools and keep taking classes that will go towards BSN degree! I'm trying to stay positive but it's been so hard. ;) Good luck to everyone I hope we all get good news!!!!

Does anybody remember what their total admission scores were, from the application worksheet? How many points is it out of total?

It is stressful! I keep reminding myself we all lack in some area. For me it is the SAT, and not having one course complete. Also, I just found out yesterday a course I took, college algebra, 10 years ago was transferred recently. I had a C in this course 10 years ago, and they failed to transfer it when I originally applied to the college. I assumed it was because it was too old (thought I finagled out of it!). I retook it last fall and got an A. I asked one of my professors yesterday if it would be counted toward my score, and she said yes. Bummer:( However, she did say it wouldn't be a huge deal bc my other grades are good.

Okay, so I lack in a lot of areas! LOL.

cbear85- A girl I took A&P 2 with during spring 2012 got into the bridge program in the middle of the semester. Hence, she was not done with the A&P 2 course. I'm not sure if she took Micro yet either? I remember her being shocked she got in. I also remember her saying her SAT was in the 900 range.

The worksheet is on the website. I guess you could figure out the maximum points allotted assuming all As/80s on both TEAS areas. Not sure how you would figure the SAT portion. It's under nursing admissions, and then there is a nursing application worksheet link underlined somewhere on that page.

I just did the worksheet, but I realized that you can't really do a max score for the admission wksht . Well, I guess you could but that would be the genius level score of 1600 on SAT, lol. I am feeling better about everything. Thanks girls for the morale boost. It is just my tendency to be slightly neurotic sometimes.:nailbiting:

Where exactly is this school located?? Do you have to take SAT if you've taken the TeasV

The main campus is in Rome, GA. They also have a satellite in Marietta, GA. You have to take the SAT unless you have a bachelor's degree.
