Georgetown University 2015

Published

Hello,

I recently turned in my application for the January 2015 MSN/FNP program at Georgetown University. Has anyone else applied for this cohort? I would like to know how the process went. The hardest part for me was the video essay.

Thanks!

I just received confirmation that my application is being processed for the May 2015 cohort. Had some issues because I was still in my last semester of my RN-BSN program, and my school would not give me a conferral letter. I finally graduated in December and hopefully I will be accepted in the FNP program.

I was accepted to GTU! Starting in May! Would love to connect with anyone else planning to start that cohort date.

Congratulations! How long did it take you to get a decision?

Congratulations! I graduated from Georgetown with my MSN a few weeks ago. It is a tough but great program. I recommend that you actively search for your preceptor each semester. The biggest complaint is that the placement team is not helpful and they find sites that are one or two hours away. Also buy a FNP review book when you start FNP 1, they summarize and explain topics well. My favorite review books are by Maria Leik and Margaret Fitzgerald.

BebobthefrogFNP,

Congrats! What an accomplishment! I would love to hear more about GTUs program. Would you mind sharing how many hours you worked? How many hours did you spend studying per week? I am applying for Fall 2015 part time FNP cohort. Any info or tips you can give me about the program would be appreciated!

Thanks! I worked full time 36 hours for 1/2 the program (one year) and then PRN 24 hours a week for the last year. I switched to PRN when I had 2-3 clinical days a week. The first semester was difficult and I spent almost all of my free time studying. Pathophysiology was very difficult and had at least 6-8 hours of lecture videos with power points to read and watch. I usually skimmed the text book, but studied from the power points. I only received one B and that was in pathophys. I did part-time and had 2 classes every semester, except for the last semester. Pharmacology is just about memorizing the drug classes.

Once I started the FNP courses, my studying time varied on how difficult the topics were. My best advice is to keep up with the work and don't get behind. Also keep in touch with your cohort. My cohort has a facebook group and it is helpful to vent and lift each other up. Good luck with your application. It is a great but challenging program.

Hello. I just submitted my application last night for the May 2015 part time FNP. I am already super nervous. Fingers crossed because this program seems wonderful. How long did it take before you had your decisions, for those that have already heard back?

Just about 2 weeks was all. I am thrilled!

So we will be in the cohort together! Where are you in the country?
