I applied to Georgetown, expecting an interview possible end of the month or November!

Anyone crossed that bridge or know something that can share.

I will be very appreciative.

Thanks and all the best pursuing your dreams.

Those of you that were granted an interviewed with Georgetown, what were your resumes like in terms of GPA, GRE, experience? I am thinking about applying this year and just wondering the ballpark Georgetown invites.

Thanks

Specializes in Gas, ICU, ACLS, PALS, BLS.

GPA 3.83

GRE waiver

1 1/2 years exp

surprisingly enough, interviewed & accepted

I believe they interviewed around 100 people for about 40 spots

I say I was surprised they accepted me b/c most people that got interviews had great GPA's from prestigious universities and several years exp in busy ICU's at top ranked hospitals

Specializes in ICU.

I'm from Louisiana (not sure how many out-of-state apps. are considered), I'm 23, I've worked as a tech in ED for 18 months (not sure if this matters any!) prior to obtaining my BSN, I've worked in ICU since December 08' (inner city hospital, level II trauma), I made 103 on CCRN and 1150 GRE (waiting for writing score), I'm an AACN member, I've on the medical response/code team, I've recently oriented a grad nurse, and I am about to start charging.

The ICU I work in is a 24 bed ICU (combined 14 bed CICU, 10 bed SICU), plenty of experience with EKG interpretation, blood gas interpretation, a-lines, ventilators, multiple drug infusions, ventriculostomies, CRRT. I don't have extensvie experience with IABP or swans, but I do have experience with them. Our ICU basically does everything but fresh hearts, which our sister hospital does.

I have not taken any Biochems, Physics, or any grad classes. How much do you think this is weighted in the application/admission process?

thanks

Oh and my undergrad GPA was 3.35

What kind of clinical questions did they ask?

Specializes in Gas, ICU, ACLS, PALS, BLS.

clinical questions:

describe to me the last patient you took care of

describe what your unit is like and what your typical patient is like

A fresh post-surgical patient who is intubated rolls into your ICU, O2 sats are 70% and pulse ox is reading correctly, what do you do?

I just found out I have a Georgetown interview next month!! Does anyone have any more examples of questions they were asked? Any additional advice?

Thanks in advance!:)
