Georgetown FNP Fall 2013 Cohort

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there is anyone else out there that will be starting the online FNP program through Georgetown University starting in Fall (September) 2013. I am going to be in the Part-time track. Post if you will be joining me!

Yikes! That is a long time...sigh...I guess I'll quit refreshing my email every hour hahahahah! I'm actually thinking I may have not been accepted. I saw a girl post that she had a 3.9 and didn't get in =( I have a 3.7 so that doesn't bode well for me...I know they take more than GPA into consideration, but everyone else I've seen that has been accepted knew in 3-5 days after submission...oh well the school I am supposed to be in, will be the one I get into I'm sure. Good luck to you! I applied to FNP schools so will just have to sit back and try to wait without anxiety! LOL

I got an email update from my adviser today he said that I should have had a decision by now. He is going to check on it tomorrow and get back to me...UGHH! I'm pretty sure since nothing updated on the MyAccess acct that I was not accepted but I will get my stats and post them for others as soon as I hear something. I'm not exactly sure how they calculate everything and i went to 4 different colleges at first due to my husband being in the Army so we shall see.

I cant speak for part time but i can speak for full time. I am in the fulltime FNP program. I am taking the same classes and those in the part time plus advanced health assessment, and let me tell you, its pretty intense. I recently quit my job and am devoting all my time to school. Part time can be very busy as well, mainly because of pathophysiology. I would say work no more than part time with the part time program (although some have been able to make it work while working full-time), and either switch to per-diem or not work at all for the full time FNP program. There is just a lot of "stuff" and studying to do for all the classes. I love every aspect of it though, and I truly feel like I am learning lots/getting my money's worth. Thanks for the update! I'm still waiting on word...day 21 for me...sigh...this is KILLING my nerves LOL. At least I have applications into two other schools just in case. Glad to hear some feedback from you in regards to the amount of work. Are you having to pay anything out of pocket each term or is everything covered with your student financial aid package?

Talked to adviser from GU today, said they are behind on decisions/pending decisions and if you were told 2-3 wks (like i was) it may be more liked 5-7 wks to get a decision...guess I'll quit hitting that refresh button now! =)

And now my myaccess page says Contact admissions bests... but when I e-mailed my adviser he said he doesn't show a decision yet...uugghhhh

Hi Canucks090! I have been accepted to the January 2014 part time Cohort and was considering switching to the fulltime track. With that said though I can't quit my job. I only work weekends so I can spend all week on school. How much time do you spend per week preparing for each class? I am just not sure if I should play it safe and do the part time or attempt the full time. Any advice?

Hi davesbride,

That decision should be based on how much of your time you will spend every day during the week. Honestly, for me, I am ether studying, writing a paper, and completing a health assessment video (or a combination of these!) on almost every day of the week. If yo do not have any other committments, it may work out for you. Many of my classmates that started out fulltime switched to part-time in the first two weeks when they realized that it would take up too much time (some of them were already working part time or per diem). I hope this helps, sorry I cant give a specific answer, it kind of reminds me of nursing school when I was busy every day and had no committments, but there were moms with kids AND jobs that got it done. Good luck with whichever decision you go with!
