Good morning guys,
I just created a facebook group for us all. I'm going to close the "event" tomorrow so there is no confusion.
Here is the link to the group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/283539058345736/
It is a closed group (meaning anyone can search for it or see it, but only members can view what we post). I/we can make it more secure later if we want. If anyone has trouble finding or joining just post on the event page and I can try to invite you.
Also cassidygal, I don' think there is anything to worry about with not receiving the contract yet. I don't think there is any connection to the deposit being sent in (because I haven't sent my deposit and I received the contract last Thursday) But I would definitely email or call Catherine, because it probably got lost in the mail...
I haven't received my contract yet. When did you get yours?
I got mine in the mail about a week after we found out about WHC. Definitely call someone, cassidygal, you should have gotten it already. I haven't sent in my deposit yet (I will, I will...) so I really don't think there's a connection. I need to find a notary who doesn't work at my agency -- I haven't told them about this yet. Anyone else leaving a job for school? It's sort-of like breaking up, huh? I know it's what I want/need to do, but I'm thinking about all the good times...
For you that are in the WHC program, is it true that you can't work in pediatrics? I'm not set on pediatrics but I'd like to not lock myself out of pediatrics for 3 years. Georgetown looks to be the most expensive program in the area and the WHC program is the only thing that makes it attractive to me.
zzyzx.kid,
Here is a link to the new student welcome brochure:
http://nhs.georgetown.edu/docs/SDBSNWelcomeBrochure.pdf
I found it on Georgetown's website- it looks like it is for the fall class but I'm assuming they'll update it for us soon. It has lots of information about starting the program.
This is the list of supplies it provides, I am hoping the supplies list for us will be similar.
• Black ballpoint pen
• Watch with second hand
• Penlight
• Stethoscope (plan to spend $100–$125). Please do NOT
purchase a stethoscope for under $50 or over $200.
These stethoscopes will not meet your needs.
• Pocket-sized note pad
• PDA (see policy below)
I actually ordered a stethoscope from allheart.com today as they are having a sale on the Litman scopes which are normally 100.00 but on sale for 69.00. I read the reviews and people really seem to like this one. It seems like a good one for school and for practice. It also comes in a bunch of delightful colors (lol) and there is the option for engraving so you won't lose your scope as easily if this is an issue for you. As for the black ballpoint pen - that's going to be an issue - lol.
