I am applying to George Mason Nursing (Traditional) for the year 2018! I wanted to start a forum because I didn't see any for this year! Does anyone have any idea how competitive the program is? I am taking be HESI on the 11th and I am so nervous about the A&P section of the test.
Omg I am so happy for you. It must have been weighing in your mind by a collosal ton. College is already stressful enough going in. But you got in omg!!! WOOHOO!!!Have you gone through orientation and whatnot?
I haven't gone through orientation yet. There wasn't any orientation details in the information that I was provided but there was information about the "bootcamp" that is the week before classes start.
See, usually orientation is when the advisors help you sign up for classes, but during the nursing portion they didn't really help us sign up. They said they'll send us an email with a document detailing what needs to be done. Like castlebranch, immunization, what classes to sign up for on patriotweb, uniform, etc. I assume you've gotten that info?
And I just found out about Trajecsys (cloud based web service for clinicals) on blackboard which is a $150 fee.
And I know I sound like a broken record, but:
Parking went on sale y'all.
Hey guys! I have been trying to figure out what to do about the CPR/First Aid requirement. I have been emailing back and forth with the bsnapps email to figure out if my current certifications meet the one needed and they don't I was told to go to this link: HeartCode® BLS but I am still unsure of which program to sign up for. The Blended HeartCode option sounds the like the best one for me but it is only $28.50 which sounds super cheap to me. And I am unsure if this meets the requirements. Does anyone know? I have sent two emails to the bsnapps and no one has responded to me.

Hello again!
I didn't get a notification about this post, but just happened to stop by. Maybe join the FB page sooner rather than later?-more prompt responses.
I think that the course that you provided the link for should be the one, but do you know if the online part and the (required) in-person part are priced separately? I would think so....$28 seems a bit cheap to me. As long as you are doing a course that is...
a) Endorsed by the AHA
b) Has a written AND instructor-led component AND
c) Says that it is BLS (basic life support) for health professionals
Make sure that they are issuing you with a certification and that you upload it to the MyCB thing. If it is accepted there, you should be fine!

Just a small P.S. Rather than e-mail BSNapps (they have large volumes of mail to respond to and hence are a bit slow), contact Dr. Douglas (her details were included in your welcome letter)... either via e-mail OR phone. The response will be more prompt and she is designated to deal with all Traditional program enquiries! I have had plenty of questions for her :-)
A good 6 people have yet to register for classes. Is there a deadline for you guys to register? I'm still on the waitlist and they said if a spot becomes available, it wont be until as early August. I'm afraid some people might drop the major last minute as previous year. They cant really get stuents off the waitlist becaue of all the prep that is needed for nursing. Someone told me how they were a class of 97 but 5 students dropped it last minute. I desperately want to get off the waitlist.
Meg2of4 : did you do anything to get a better chance getting off the waitlist? How did they notify you?
Does anyone have any information about the boot camp week? I was trying to figure out what times it starts and ends so I can figure out my schedule for that week. I haven't received anything I missed something.
I don't think anyone has received the information yet, because they haven't finished assigning the schedules yet to the people attending the bootcamp.
I searched for posts relating to bootcamp week, and they said it was just an orientation and not to worry.
