U.S.A. Virginia

Hi!!!

I'm applying for Fall 2014, and I wanted to know how competitive it is to get in? Anyone that was accepted for Fall 2013, what were your grades and GPA?

I would greatly appreciate any tips. Thank you!!!

Hey everyone! I just got a letter back for GMU and I got wait listed :( I graduated with a 3.5 GPA and 3.4 GPA in prereqs. How is everyone else doing?

Just got my denial letter. I work as a Army Licensed Practical nurse at Ft Belvoir my science gpa was 3.2. Not sure what they are looking for I am BLS, ALS, and PALS certified. While important I think they just looked at my GPA and denied me.

Because I am active duty Army I have wiggle room to apply to out of state schools. Looks like I will be moving to Florida for nursing school.

Hey everybody-I've been lurking on this board for a while and finally decided to create an account. I got my letter last night, and I got in! Now I have to figure out how to pay for it...

Sorry to everyone who hasn't gotten it. Good luck to you all on your school decisions.

I also go waitlisted - 3.0 undergrad and 4.0 pre-req..

Hey all, I was accepted too but will be attending my 1st choice program elsewhere. One more off the wait list. Good luck to all

I also applied to GMU's ABSN program, and I was waitlisted. I have an undergrad GPA of 3.5, and prereq GPA of 4.0 (although I'm still taking three classes, and I'm guessing this GPA will go down some). Does anyone know what the chances are of getting off the waitlist? The letter I received said that they can't tell us our spot on the waitlist, but I'm curious how students are ranked/assessed to determine who (if anyone) gets in from the waitlist. If you don't plan on attending, please let them know! And congrats on everyone's acceptance!!

My stats were 3.6 ugrad GPA (biochemistry) and 4.0 pre-reqs. No volunteer/clinical experience so I was surprised that I was actually accepted. I also feel I had a pretty good essay/unique life experiences so that might have played a part. Good luck.

I was also accepted (3.5 undergrad, 3.8 prereqs) but will not be attending. I worked REALLY hard on my essay and had, what I feel are, good life experiences. GMU used to be my first choice but I was accepted to VCU and feel that VCU is the better fit for me. Good luck to those waiting!

Ill see you on 5/13 then 08rea!

Did anyone here apply to Shenandoah in addition to George Mason? I got my acceptance letter to GMU about a week ago and have to make a final decision and deposit by April 11 to hold my spot! I was without a doubt going there since 1. they were essentially my top choice but i was just hoping to get in anywhere, and 2. i hadnt heard from my other schools yet. Well I just got a letter 2 days ago and got accepted to Shenandoah as well, and didnt expect that to happen during this short period of time that I had to make a decision, so I was basically set until this came and now Im not sure what to do because there are SO many pros and cons i have heard for both schools and I only have about 24 hours left to decide and accept the offer. I'm very sorry about those of you that mentioned you got waitlisted, but i think there will end up being a LOT of people taken off the wait list if its a matter of how many people will reserve their spots by the same date as me and only got about 10 days notice like I did, because I *know* there has got to be others out there that got their acceptance offer within the past week or two and aren't ready to make a decision so quickly--or maybe I am just super indecisive :/ Also, there are two (if i saw it correctly) that are in this thread alone that both got accepted but are going elsewhere, which is already 2 more spots for people in the waiting lists! So I am confident and will keep my fingers crossed for those of you still waiting to hear from GMU regarding the waitlist becoming an offer, or those that are still waiting to hear from them for the first time. I am new to this allnurses site so hopefully I can figure out how to follow this thread and keep up with everyone else who is planning to start nursing school this fall! Good luck everyone!

I don't if it helps you at all, but I asked admissions where classes will be located. Here is the email response that I got:

"The location of the classes depends on room scheduling, but you will be at Prince William and Fairfax. All of the skills labs are on the Fairfax campus. There is a shuttle between campuses. The OCL listings stand for off campus location which are your clinical sites. Usually, the first semester the second degree students go to Fairfax Hospital, but again, that is dependent on what placements we get. The second semester is OB, Peds, and Psych, which are located all over the DC metro area. That is again dependent on what placements we get.

I know this may be frustrating information; we are mostly dependent on our room scheduling office and our clinical placement partners. It does appear that the didactic classes will be at PW in the fall, but your labs will all be at Fairfax."

Congratulations and good luck making your decision!

So who else will going?! Anyone sign up for the May orientation? I'm think going to wait until June to see what those dates are.

Hi All! I am excited to be attending the GMU accelerated nursing bsn this fall and wanted to connect with some of my fellow classmates! I hope that those of you who got waitlisted end up getting a spot-it looks like several people just in this thread have already selected other programs. Are there any other parents of small children who will be beginning this fall? How are you planning on scheduling your study time? Does anyone know what the schedule will be this fall? Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to meeting you!
