Genesis Healthcare...any thoughts?

I am a new grad who has been hoping and wishing for a job and I just got a call back for Genesis Healthcare for an interview :yeah: Does anyone work for them...know about them... like it or hate it. Just wondering. Thanks in advance

Are you referring to Genesis Health System in the Quad Cities? If so, I work there and I think it is a pretty good place to work.

I have been in numerous facilities and of any facility on earth Ive ever seen or heard of, that is one I would avoid; wouldn't send my dog's excrement there.

Just my opinion based on what I saw first hand (which changed my view and tainted it forever regarding for profit nursing homes).

Maybe it's different here but just seeing the name gives me a sick feeling (I'm not kidding, it really did). I think my strong reaction is based on being in many of these places and being affected by what I saw... not just one or two.

When you have a company where money is number one, things happen and practices are accepted where it may not be so in any other facility.

Studies show non profit gives better care in nearly every incidence.

You look at reimbursements then try to make millions from peanuts....some gotta pass on for your profit, IMHO.

I'm still sickened just seeing the name.

I just called to speak with a nurse recruiter with Genesis Healthcare. I'd like to know whether you decided to accept the job and if so how do you like it?
