Genesis Healthcare...any thoughts?
I am a new grad who has been hoping and wishing for a job and I just got a call back for Genesis Healthcare for an interview Does anyone work for them...know about them... like it or hate it. Just wondering. Thanks in advance

I am beginning to think that I can not get a job...
I would LOVE to know what new grads you are interviewing them so I can smack them upside the head. LOL A "high paying job that is easy with not a lot of training" hello! Are they sure they even researched nursing before going to school. If I wanted a job making a lot of money and sitting on my ass I would never have switched careers. All I want is a chance to learn and be a good nurse. I don't even care if I work holidays. I even thought about taking a PCT job just to get my food in the door but even they want experience. The way the job market is right now what more could you possibly be asking for. God I just want a job.

Unemployed New Grad
So are medical assistant jobs a no?

Unemployed New Grad
Should I apply to medical assistant jobs? I have been applying all over the place in Maryland and turned up nada (9 apps sent; 7 on the way). I am an ADN and it is mostly BSN preferred or 1 year experience. I did a 13 month accelerated program which left no time for internships. I take care of my sick mom and can't move so I'm not sure what to do. The sucky thing is the hospital up the road from my house has build a new wing and they have over 100 RN jobs available... 6 of which are for new grads. I plan to go for my BSN next fall, hopefully that will make me more marketable. I'm just so unsure and disheartened, unemployment is the last thing I thought I would have to worry about. Also, if ONE more person say, "I thought they needed nurses...there is a big shortage" I'm gonna scream.

Typical ASN VS BSN questions
1) You know what I am not a coward you wanna know who I am so you can come knocking on my door? Lemme know. 2) I wasn't being an ass I was being a ***** because you were being elitist about something you don't even have yet. So why don't you go run along and finish school then come find me. 3) Microbiology was a pre req and I took it. 5) If there was THAT much difference we would be qualified to take the same state license exam 6) I would sit here and go round for round with you about what classes I "missed" how that was incorporated in to my education, etc. but what would really be the point you will still be elitist and snobbish. 7)I'm done with you and this thread. Go apply to school now see you on the floor. Good luck :loveya:

Typical ASN VS BSN questions
1) I am in Howard County so maybe your county's requirements are lacking not ADN programs all together 2) You may want to try again with the pre reqs for UnivofMD School of Nursing. There is NO organic chem or "extra" math or "two extra english". The only thing I didn't "have" to take was Nutrition and Statistics but I took them anyways. Oh you can keep those 9 extra humanities credits...thanks. Don't believe me check the link http://nursing.umaryland.edu/academic-programs/undergrad 3) I took the same NCLEX (passed on the first try) and I know some BSNs who didn't. 4) As far as "gaps in knowledge". Well why don't you look at the sample plan of study for the RN to BSN...looks like I didn't miss that much. 5) Having a bachelor's degree is a great accomplishment but don't laud your success over someone else as if that makes you better. Thanks for playing. Try again next time.

Typical ASN VS BSN questions
Look I don't know where you are from, but I am an ASN nurse (returning student I obtained a BS in Finance in '03) and in Maryland I had to take ALL those courses you are talking about ASNs don't get. I had 1 year of Anatomy, Microbio, Chem, Psych 101 and human development, sociology, math and English. All of those courses were required before I could apply to my ASN program. I also call ******** on the whole ASNs don't get the "holistic view and well rounded knowledge" At least I can spell holistic.

Took the NCLEX exam today at 8:30. Stopped at 75 questions. Did the Pearson trick and this message 'Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time.' Did I pass? maybe? eek
