Anyone go here? I'm just starting my pre-reqs this semester (chem 100 and bio 104) plus I'm taking Psy 101 and Soc 101 just to get them out of the way. I'm hoping to get into nursing for fall 2012. What do they look at for admissions? Just GPA or what???

Hi there. I've been going to GCC part-time (1 or 2 classes a semester) for 3 semesters. I'm also trying to get in. Seems like it's getting more competitive each semester. I have all A's, exceeded the pre-requisites, and had 4 co-requisites done during the last round of admissions. I'm not trying to discourage you, it just seems like we have finish a lot before we can even really start!

Hope to see you in our classes in the future!

So then what are they looking for in regards to admission? I really thought it was straight GPA but maybe not.

When I apply this December, I will have completed ENG 101 and 102, CHE 100, BIO 104, PSY 101, and SOC 101. I have A's in every course except Eng 102 because I took it back in 1994 and didn't care about my grade so I ended up with a B. Do you recommend I do anything else?

I recently applied to GCC nursing program with all the pre reqs done. I like how GCC considers acceptance of students based upon pre req grades. I don't know how the program is, but I am praying I get admitted and can update you guys about the program. If anyone has questions about applying maybe I can help assist.

Did you apply Jan of 2017 or is this an old post

I am currently a 2nd semester nursing student at GCC. I think it helps if you have previous experience either as a medical assistant/med tech/ or CNA prior to admission! Good luck on your pre-reqs. FYI by 2020 NYS is mandating all nurses to be BSN so you may as well get some of those pre-requisites out of the way as well. Hopes to see you around campus.
