General Tips and Words of Wisdom for CNA student/pre LPN

Published

Hello all. I am working on my CNA license and once I have that, I plan on doing the LPN to RN program at either North or South Seattle Community College. Wondering who has gone this same route before? What was it like for you? What did you like/didn't like? What helped you get through school? I hear it's really hard because they want to weed out the bad seeds who aren't strong enough for nursing school...is it really like that? How can I fully prepare myself? Certain books, websites, experience, jobs, etc?

Anything helps. Thank you for your time.

Just curious why you're doing your LPN then RN? and not just pursue your RN? Not that LPN is not a good choice, if I didn't have a newborn, I would most likely do that route. But curious as to why you're choosing that route?

I live in Seattle and am doing LPN to RN as well. A lot of the schools have step programs like that set up here. I get asked the same question all the time, "why lpn?". The reason I am doing it is because the competetion right now for the RN programs are nuts. Ive heard of some schools having a wait list of up to 4+ years. Ive heard that the LPN program has a very little if no wait. The same with The LPN-RN Bridge. I could actually obtain my RN quicker this route IF it all goes as planned. If for some reason I do get put on a wait list for the LPN then Ill just continue working on my PRE Req's for my BSN which I hope to evetually get.

I also have to work while in school. Rent here is crazy too. lol.
