Worth it to retake A&P 1 and 2?

I got a B for A&P 1.. I could have gotten an A or negative A, but I let other problems control me, so I stopped studying hard. I could probably get an A if I retake it, but not sure if it is worth it. I am currently taking A&P 2 which I might end up with a -B or B. I wasn't prepared this semester. If I get -B , I will retake it, but if I get B I might not.

You think I should retake these courses and aim for an A for both? Or B's are fine?

What would you do?

I think it is hard very competitive to get into the nursing school here. I saw I need a B and up for Science courses to transfer. So I guess I should be OK with B's. I just gotta work on my entry essay ;\

I would settle for the B in A & P 1 but if you get a B- in A & P 2, retake it and aim for that A.

It really all depends on the program you want to get into. I got an A in A&P 1 and a B in A&P 2. I didn't get in to my first choice program, but did get into my second choice. Also, do you have a good grasp of the material from the first semester? If you really understand it, but got a B and think you can still get into your program, then don't sweat it. There are lots of review books on A&P if you want a refresher without the tuition...

I want to get into the BSN in nursing. Nutritional science or Registered dietitian is my 2nd choice. I'm very into Nutrition and I always wanted to teach people how to eat healthier, etc. I'm not sure how hard it is to get into Nutritional science or RD. I will check. I do want to wait a little longer and see if I get accepted at the nursing program. I do feel like I learned a lot on A&P 1 and 2. We'll see what I get for A&P 2. If I get a C+ or B-, I will retake it. I will study harder to get that A. If I get a B, I will be happy and not retake the course. If I do have a really hard time getting into the program because I got B's for A&P , then I will retake.

OK, so I got a B , not -B. I guess I am keeping that and won't retake the course. I've decided to go for Nutritional Science first so I should be fine with B's. I will go for nursing after Nutritional Science. I was told that taking Nutritional science will help me for the nursing program since I will be taking a lot of science courses. I am more interested in Nutrition then Nursing. It is just that Nursing have a lot of jobs opening.

If the school allows you to move forward, then accept the B.

If you are truly interested in nutrition, consider a master's degree in dietary science. Dieticians are needed in virtually every medical facility, nursing home, assistant living and many do free-lance with private patients. My friend makes $45/hr doing diabetic and medical nutritional therapy and she is able to set her own hours.

That's awesome! I will consider that. I want to go for the master or Ph.D after the BSN in Nutritional science. Will that allow me work as a diabetic and medical nutritional therapy? I don't think there's a program called dietary science. $45 an hour is very good, plus I like how she can set her own hours.

Honestly, most schools will not allow a retake of a class for anything C and above. Your school may be different but every college I have attended was like that. Take the B and move on knowing you did well :)

Ty! I will keep that B. I could have done better but I missed a few lecture due to the fever which screwed me up on exam 3- got a 57. I did so good for the labs. I kept getting 50 out of 50. I do feel like I learned a lot. My GPA didn't drop a lot. I am trying to keep it around 3.4-3.5

I never heard of such a thing as BSN in Nutritional Science. BS, yes, but not a nursing degree in nutrition. I think you get to pick one-- nurse or nutritionist. Of course you could always get the BSN and then see if you could get a MS in Nutrition-- awesome combination.

Personally, I would move on to Microbiology. Score an A in that class and move forward. I honestly would apply to several programs first. You may get accepted. They do take into account your entrance exam scores too. If those are high, your chances are high.

Yeah, I meant BS in Nutritional Science. It is hard to get into the BSN. I want to go for Nutritional Science first and then nursing. I'm also aiming for a master or ph.D in Nutrition
