Tubes

Nursing Students General Students

Published

Gastrointestinal: Nasogastric, orogastric, nasointestinal, transabdominal, double lumen, triple lumen, single lumen..

UGH... is there an easy way to remember all this??? Anyone else in this chapter?

Marie:)

We aren't learning all our tubes at once. NG was earlier, IV will be next semester (but you have lumens with catheters too, and that was in the elimination chapter a few weeks ago...).

Nope. Sorry... how about the dorsogluteal IM z track? That is for tomorrow. I get a big ol' needle in the butt full of saline from a student who has never stuck anyone before. I can hardly wait.

Can you say, OUCH!?

Ok, I think I have the "tubes" figured out now.

Val, let us know how it goes tomorrow, can't wait to hear.

HA. I may not be able to SIT at my computer to reply tomorrow!

Break down the name of the tube and it'll tell you what it's for.
