I have been picking up extra clinicals for a few months now (going 4 days a week instead of just 2) and found out on Monday that I will be starting my 80 hour preceptorship in mid-January. I'm a little freaked out by the thought of it, but very excited. When we go back to school after Christmas I have to take our comprehensive ATI and do 2 more nights of peds and then I will do my preceptorship. I am actually doing it on the same floor that I work on as an aide, which is where I plan to work as a nurse as well. Tomorrow I will be working out a schedule for both work and the preceptorship with my manager.
What do you guys feel is important to do to prepare for this? Over Christmas I plan to spend time reviewing my lab value norms as well as drugs. One of the nurses I will be preceptoring with likes to ask questions about why 1 drug would be used over another, so I want to be sure I know those answers! I've also been mentally go over how a typical day runs as a nurse, with time-management and all. For school I am in the hospital from 3:30-9:30 so we have never been on the floor for a full shift but in my preceptorship I will be doing the regular 12 hour shifts. That has me a little worried.

You have an advantage in that you will be on the same floor where you are a CNA.
Sounds like you will be fine, just remember to breathe.
Good Luck.
