I just need to vent a little about the completely crappy day I had. I am a nurse intern at a hospital and I swear it was like I was drunk at work today. I was a bumbling idiot. Some days I feel like I MIGHT just be getting the hang of this nursing thing and then a day like today comes around to let me know, hey, you don't know crap!!! :( Sorry, just had to tell someone I thought might understand. PLease post your thoughts so I don't bury my head in a pillow!!! I WILL MAKE IT AND MAKE A GOOD NURSE.......some day

Oh Jess, we all have days, weeks, months like that. You made it this far, you can make it the rest of the way. {{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Hang in there! It will get better. I have been where you are and understand the frustration. But remember, you're still learning and need to give yourself permission to make mistakes. That is how we all learn. Before you know it, you'll be a great nurse!

Gosh~ I have alot of days like that!:) AND....did'ja ever notice how you can be right on top of things until your instructor comes over to talk to you and ask a few questions, and immediately you turn into Forrest Gump?;)

We all go through days like that. I've been having a month like that....:wink2:

Hang in there...we'll all get through it. Eventually.

Julie:nurse:

{{{{{ HUGS}}}}} to all of you! You have nade me feel so much better, the pint of Ben&Jerry's didn't hurt either! :D I guess tomorrow is another day. I'll try to make the best of it! Thanks again you all!!!!!

where is my maid.............i will work anyday...........

Even experienced nurses have days like this, don't get down on yourself. One of the most important lessons I learned as a new RN ws that just when you think you are getting the hang of it and start to get comfortable, there will always be something that happens to bring you back down to earth. Mistakes happen (to me, at least) when we get too comfortable in our position.

jessjoy-

Wow, do I understand! I basically have been having a crappy month. I'm in semester 4/5 in a BSN program, and am having a rough go of it lately.

I'm not trying to brag at all here, but I am an A student in my classes, but it seems lately that when I hit the floor, I turn instantly into the village idiot!!! I can write a 20 page paper on the insertion of, need for, parameters of, etc.. of an IV, but go to start one?!?!? Oh my goodness! I must also say that I am 37 yrs old with 2 children & a hub, with mortgage, bills, etc....and am sooooooo burnt out right now. I've been talking about my graduating in December, getting my BSN, passing the NCLEX, then going to work at Costco, running the hot dog stand!!!! At least that way, if I make a mistake, no one will die, I won't lose my license, get sued, etc........

Forgive my ramblings......I am just so stressed at this moment that it's easy to forget why I chose this profession in the first place. I'm going to take the summer off and regroup. I really need it! Again, I'm just venting here, but thanks for listening!

You're singing to the choir here, laurab2jb2....and sing all you want!! I try to vent to the old hubby but he can't really understand because he is in sales and people's lives aren't on the line (although the way he talks, you would think they were.) Since starting to Intern program I realized how much d*mn paperwork there is! Thats what is really getting to me. I feel like when a patient farts there's about ten places I have to chart it on!! :chuckle Ahhhh I feel better now! Nothing like a good vent to people who can understand!! :roll

Jess,

I'be been a LPN for about 16 years now, and I still have days when my name might as well be DUH!

It happens, and we all just have to go on with one foot in front of the other...........

Hang in there.

Marla
