Anyone on here in the NSU 2nd degree nursing program or the regular program?!?!?

I am interested in applying here so if there is anyone out there who knows about this school please post a reply or PM me...thanks!

I am now in the program and I really like it. The only thing that I worry about are the students that do not have a medical background from their 1st degree. We are in the program with LPN's that have sooooo much more knowledge in the nursing field which can be intimidating and a little annoying. It is a really fast paced program therefore you have to be motivated and self disciplined because the teachers cannot possibly teach everything in such a short period. This semester I am taking med surg 1 and a cultural class (the whole semester), peds, OB, psych (are 5 weeks each). It's alot but it can be done, especially if you have a good study group. And believe me, you'll need one to keep you up for those inevitable all nighters!! Let me know if you have any other questions???

Thank you very much for replying! I am very interested in this school, but I do not want to waste money applying if I do not have a chance of getting in. Do you happen to know how competitive the school is and the average GPA?

They tell you that it is competitive. When I applied, all but one person was accepted and he was put on a waiting list and starts in December. The GPA you need is a 2.5 or better. I'm not sure what the average GPA is of the students in the program. Alot of students are concerned with the exit exam known as the HESI. You MUST pass this exam before you receive your degree. I've heard of someone that finished her classes in 2007 and has still not passed it. But the program is under investigation (from word of mouth) and some students are petitioning to have the HESI removed. I don't want to give you the impression that NSU has a bad program, there are just some kinks that need to be worked out. Thy are planning on revamping the program next year to up its success rate.

Anythin else??

I'm graduating from an LPN program in a couple of months and I'm looking into getting into their accelerated program for second degree in nursing. Are you still in school and are your thoughts the same? I'm hoping to schedule a meeting with the DON and get my prereqs out the way.
