I have been lurking for a while so I thought I would come on out! I am working on my prereqs to getting into nursing school. It seems like it is going to take forever to get there! I take my first AP class next semseter. I am still trying to figure out which school I want to apply to. I can't wait to get to know you all better!

Welcome, Shannon! :)
I know the prereqs seem like they take forever, but they'll be over before you know it. Do the best you can and study hard! A&P is particularly important; it seems like I use the knowledge I gained in those two classes every single day.
Best of luck! You've found a great support system here! :)

Hi Shannon
I'm also new here and saw your message...I'm basically in the same boat as you, taking a year to do prereqs. I actually already have a BSc in Psychology, but it never made me as excited as the thought of Nursing. I felt alittle stupid being so "whishy-washy (sp?)" (i.e.) Not having a definate career goal, but once I planned to get into Nursing, I felt so sure about it. The many stories that I hear from the BB is kinda scary....but I'm looking forward to the challenge! Anyhow, just wanted to say hi to a fellow new member and wanted to say how much I enjoy this BB!

Hi, and Welcome!
Just a small note....
Hang in there, no matter what, cause it all gets better in the end.
Also, don't be frightened if somebody gets cranky and says a lot of negative things, this is the ONE place that we can come and vent, and often will get encouragement and support, and a whole new perspective on things....
Most of us are in the same boat, study wise, and we all need friends who are there, too.
Take care, and please visit often!

I'm doing my prereqs too, and it IS taking me forever!! About 2 years instead of one. (It wasn't a straight shot.) Anyway, welcome aboard. I love it here, and I know you will two. Recently, two of our mentor nurses let me email interview them for my term paper. I get all kinds of help here!

Hi Shannon.
This is my first time at this web site and I came across your post. All I can say is hang in there.
I am in my first year of the actual ADN program, and finished my pre-reqs last year. It seemed like it was taking forever (i went to school part time for most of it), but now that I'm finally in the program it was worth it, and I love it so far.
Hope to talk again soon.
